There's an Express version of MSVC which is free, it's pefectly useable.

It didn't compile....im on windows computer with GCC compiler. usually when i compile a file it looks something like this:
gcc filenametobecompiled -o resultingfilename.exe

can you tell me wut to do?

I would suggest going to #planeshift-build on freenode.net using an irc client. You should be able to get realtime help to troubleshoot the problem. When I'm there, I'd be happy to help.

Those directions are nowhere in the guide Karyuu provided a link for.  Planeshift contains a lot more than just one file that an executable is created from.  Use Karyuu's link above and select Windows-GCC if you are using MinGW/MSYS. If you are using Cygwin, there are currently no official guides for that OS. As stated above, we'd be glad to help you more in #planeshift-build.
