Crystal Blue 0.15
« on: July 05, 2006, 10:39:39 pm »
Crystal Blue version 0.15 for Mac OS X 10.3 (PowerPC) and up is available on BitTorrent!  Check the downloads on the Planeshift Homepage!

EDIT: Haha, I lie.  The download is available but PSClient will not function correctly.  I recommend holding off for a while!

Sorry, no support for 10.2 and earlier, or the Intel Macs.  Some people have successfully compiled CS & Planeshift on their intel macs.  Non-pro macbooks and intel Mac Mini's have a graphics chip that will cause trouble even if you can successfully compile everything.

2nd EDIT: Thread locked - torrent re-released, hopefully functional!

*cough* Ok, first issue, it'll die on load because:

Library not loaded: /sw/lib/libdl.0.dylib
Referenced from: /Applications/Planeshift3D/psclient.app/Contents/Resources/freefnt2.csbundle

Working on uploading a patch..

For the first known issue (Crash on startup immediately)

A patched file is available at:
http://psmirror.org/freefnt2.csbundle

Ctrl-click the link and select to download it to your desktop
Ctrl-click on psclient.app and "Show Package Contents"
Open Contents and then Resources inside of it, and replace the freefnt2.csbundle file that is there with the one provided.

Still crash on startup -- libvorbis not found.
« Reply #7 on: July 06, 2006, 02:06:36 am »
There seems to be additional problems, i.e. I am still experiencing crash at startup. After applying the patch, the error reguarding freefnt2 library disappears.

Next problem is related to libvorbis. The file sndsysogg.csbundle seems to want libvorbisfile.3.dynlib installed under /usr/local/lib:

Library not loaded: /usr/local/lib/libvorbisfile.3.dylib
  Referenced from: /Applications/Planeshift3D/psclient.app/Contents/Resources/sndsysogg.csbundle
  Reason: image not found

There is a libvorbisfile.3.dynlib included in the package. However, creating a symbolic link to it from /usr/local/lib produces an error about library version incompatibilities:

Library not loaded: /usr/local/lib/libvorbisfile.3.dylib
  Referenced from: /Applications/Planeshift3D/psclient.app/Contents/Resources/sndsysogg.csbundle
Reason: Incompatible library version: sndsysogg.csbundle requires version 5.0.0 or later, but libvorbisfile.3.dylib provides version 4.0.0

 \\o// THANKYOU dfryer THANKYOU  \\o//

It is so good to have a game as awesome as PlaneShift available for us Apple Mac computer owners and users!

Thanks also to the whole PlaneShift Development Team for creating something that could be ported into Mac OS X and into Linux in the first place!  :)

[now if only there were more seeders of the bittorrent file...]
- running PlaneShift Mac OS X Tiger (10.4.11) Client, on an Apple iMac G5 2GHz PowerPC processor, 2GB DDR SDRAM, an ATI Radeon 9600 graphics card with 128MB VRAM, a 20-inch active-matrix LCD widescreen display, and a 250GB Serial ATA hard drive... so what's your excuse, huh?

http://psmirror.org/freefnt2.csbundle

1. Move the mouse pointer until it is over the link, let go of the mouse and don't move the mouse
2. Depress the Control key on the keyboard, hold it down and keep it held down
3. Click the mouse button once - making sure that you don't move the mouse about
4. From the Pop-Up Menu, move the pointer over the "Download Linked File" and click the mouse button once
5. Release the Control key on your keyboard and let go of the mouse

Now follow the rest of dfryers instructions in his original post

There are several other problems, I may be able to release a patch for people with the original torrent but would prefer to create a new torrent with a good release as well.
