Collabrative Illness guide
« on: July 12, 2006, 09:23:12 pm »
Ok this is idea, I had like 5 minutes ago (from date of this post), ok this idea would probably be better done on some website or maybe wiki, but as its an idea its here for now. Anyway my idea is that if your character suffers from a disease or became ill then share it here giving details so that others can look for an illness and perhaps use it for their character to roleplay and hopefully create something that might be quite common and part of planeshift life.

Example template:

Name:
Other Names:
Description: giving information such as what race it can affect, how serious it is, etc.
Causes:
 • 1
 • 2
Symptons:
 • 1
 • 2
Cure:

Code: [Select]
Name:
Other Names:
Description: giving information such as what race it can affect, how serious it is, etc.
Causes:
[li]1[/li]
[li]2[/li]
Symptons:
[li]1[/li]
[li]2[/li]
Cure:

ok template isn't standard but if someone wants to set up a site which can be better mantained and have a more fixed format that can be easily searched then great :).

Ok now for the first illness:

Name: Klyros Flu
Other Names: none
Description: Klyros flu can affect any race and is often caused when dirty water has been swallowed, altough it is not lethal it can make the recipiant ill for many weeks, thus forcing them to stay in bed, klyros flu will always cause greeny\bluey scabs which may result in small scars being left after the illness has gone.
Causes:
 • Internal contact with dirty water
Symptons:
 • feverishness
 • bad coughing fits
 • poor eye sight
 • large greeny\blue scabs that form over the body
 • feeling of weekness
 • loss of hunger
Cure: There is no known cure, bed rest and intake of herbal drinks is highly recommended

ok so if you have an illness\disease to add then go right ahead.

Those last two aren't really diseases though... they're curses. You can't catch a curse. (Unless for some reason whoever cast the spell wanted it to be contagious.)

2. Being near or talking with others that have LUPIDS.

Symptons: ^ see above

Cure: The only cure known is time and the teachings of others. However, if not carefull the teachers may contract the ailment from the infected.
It is best to stay away from the infected and give guidance from a distance.

Name: Novaristain
Other Names: icy rash
Description: The Novaristain is most common among Ylians, but also quite common among Dermorians and Lemurs. For any reason among the Dermorians only childs are affected. The illness is mostly nonlethal and gone after 2-3 weeks, but there are also frequent deaths caused by it.
Kran avoid anyone with this illness. Although they can not be affected it shows quite many similarities to another - always deadly - diseas which spreads from time to time (s.b.).
Causes:
 • To be together with an infected may cause it
 • It is also believed that beeing out at night in Novari can cause it
Symptons:
 • Every part of the body - except the hands - is covered with cold, white spots.
 • After a while the spots raise and are getting embossed - this is the time were the affected suffers from dizzyness and dullness.
 • After about 18 days the spots have risen about 8mm and are starting to fall off. The affected now suffers from big pain - like million little puncture wounds - and high fever.
Cure:
There is no real cure, but quite a bunch of tricks to ease the pain. Two of them are listed:
#1:
Cut a apple in two halfes.
Take some silicic and grind it together with the right amount of water to a thick paste.
Coat one half of the apple with the paste.
Cook the other apple in salted water, till he has nearly vanished.
Pour the apple-salt-water on the stomach of the affected.
Wait a minute and then rub the coated apple on the wet stomach.
Repeat this twice a day.
(the silicic paste may also come from a confusion about the kran-diseas)
#2
Wrap up legs, arms, stomach and foot of the affected real tight with some bandage.
Lay him in a warm bathtub.
Wait for about half an hour till you take him out.
Get some carrots, apples and fish and cook them all together.
The affected has to drink the brew of it as long as he still is wrped up.

Sidenote to the mentioned Kran-disease:
Not much is known about it, the Kran do not talk about it to "outsiders"
The only thing known is that sometimes suddenly many elder Kran are getting white embossed spots all over the body - they actually are a little bit colder than the rest of the body too.
After a while of suffering effery infected Kran dies...
