“No Hardware Acceleration” usually means you either:

1.) Have very outdated or even nonexistent drivers for your graphics card
2.) Have a very outdated graphics card, or
3.) Have a distinct lack of anything that could be considered a graphics card

Solve this by:

1.) Updating your graphics card drivers from the manufacturer's website
2.) Buy a new graphics card, or
3.) Buy a graphics card :P

Have you tried repairing your Windows install, or, worse comes to worse, reformatting? If you reformat, you'd need to reinstall all your previous drivers, graphics included.

If you had everything working, but then it suddenly stopped without you touching anything -inside- the computer case, chances are you just have to prod the system a bit :} To find out what's currently up:

  • Right-click anywhere on your desktop
  • Click on Properties
  • Choose the Settings tab
  • Look under Display for text similar to "Such-and-such monitor on [ card ]"

That's a very vague description - can you follow my instructions and post back?

Try installing the drivers from Nvidia's website.

Go to their driver page, and in the three boxes there choose: "Graphics Driver," then "GeForce and TNT2," and then your operating system. Download, install, and see what happens.

The website always has the newest version, so I would recommend it over a disc.

If it doesn't work for some bizarre reason, yes :]

Nothing should fail - but uninstalling is recommended if you wish to install something again.
