I sent my host an email and they've restored the database from a backup. I don't know how much work is lost though, if any.

I'll check to see how old that backup was, and if they have a newer one.

Edit: Apparently it was restored from a weekly backup, so only changes from the last week are lost. The dates shown at the bottom of the page are wrong (again apparently). From browsing through the wiki, there's a large amount of data there.

Ok, let me see if they have something more recent... if not then we're stuck with that I'm afraid.

I really hope they got something more recent. It would really suck, especially for all people who worked on the language project, but also the other docs. I really hope there is a later backup :-/

Oh man!   :@#\  :'(
The language section is no more!  :(  :'(

Since ten commandments are hardly enough to christians, I'll propose just 5 for backup's server manteinance.

The Five Commandments of Backups
1. You'll love making backups over anything else
2. The Backup is your God, and you will make a new one every day
3. You'll protect the backup in the safe
4. You will use Linux to prevent data losing
5. You will do a recovery data disaster sham every week to see the correct making of backups.

[that was a joke... don't take too seriously, I don't want to hurt anybody's feeling]

But anyway... it's a pitty lose all that work on language... I think I have to reconstruct all the enkien section
oh boy...  :-\

This time keep local copies of everything you do :) I'll try and take manual database backups every week or so.

The language project was majorly puzzled together from different places. Arka is the one who did most, I hope she is able to redo that...
The other docs however were mostly produced directly in the wiki, so there is nothing left aside from what we have in our brains.

I feel very sorry for all who lost their work. But please, DON'T GIVE UP!

We now try to reconstruct the last state of the wiki. For that we need everyone who can recall how things were before the db screwed up!
