My first experience with Planeshift was pretty bad actually

So, I was a noob playing Runescape (I finally admit it..), but the game bored me more and more. There were lots of retards and the graphics were...well...bad

I played it 2 months max I think.
So then I started to play iRose, played it two months too, but then it turned Pay to Play, and I left.
Then, on a Dutch tech-website if frequented, I saw a thread about free MMO's, and there was this guy talking about "PlaneShift", an opensource game. Of course I was interested, it wasn't only free, but opensource even!
So I went to the game's website and read it's background.....completely.
Yes, I first read the background and only then downloaded the game, I don't know what had gotten into me

So I logged into the game and was immediately disappointed.
I expected this huge grand incredibly cool world, but the world was almost empty!
I looked around, to the left I saw this guy floating high in the air, on some sort of pile of crystals.
Pretty soon I found out that the game was still in development and the background was only how the game would be in the future.
So I walked around, trying to find people. I found them in the temple.
Me: Hello
Others: ...
Me: Hi, how are you?
Others: ....
Me: So what can I do in this world?
Others: ...
Yeah, they ignored me. All the long-time MB players had made a nice little club, and they let no one in.
Nice.
So I walked around the temple and found a diamond, which I knew was the current currency.
I clicked the diamond, but what next? How did I pick it up? I saw no pick up commands.
Me: Hey, I found a diamond!
Me: How do I pick it up?
A while later this guy walked over to me.
Guy: Like this....
He then picked up the diamond and walked away.
Right...
So I logged off of course.
I then read the forums and started to post there, joining the crowd of people who were highly anticipating the Crystal Blue release.
I logged in several times more, exploring the world, picking up stuff, making bug reports about stuff known for ages... the usual.
Hell, I actually had decent conversations with some people!
Then when CB was released, it was great!
Because of all the new people, the old clubs fell appart, and the community got more open.
I could finally play the game without being ignored!
I started to play the game very actively.
And I'm still around today
