But the better you are, the better you can aim, increasing your ability to hit critical/weak points in your enemy's armor, doing more harm.
exactly the same thing is about hand weapons
And if you want more damage:
Use a crossbow, but then prepare for a decrease in firing frequency.
So why do you ever mention it? Maybe i was talking about crossbows from the very start? But the fact is i was talking about ranged weapons in general or rather about its best model, if it explain you better.

Of course hand weapons are always more powerfull than ranged. But it isn't good to make the ranged weapons weaker, because missiles can't be stuck in body. It also isn't good to increase damage of ranged weapons, to compensate them in this way. We should have "arrows and other missiles stuck in body" feature

What you can failure tommorow, failure today.

stuck in body feature?

We just concluded that the silk shirt wouldn't be that hard in implementation and now you are suggesting instead of making it easier to make it harder to implemement?   :o

Well lets wait till we actually have arrows and bows before discussing the hedgehog principle  :innocent:

Crossbows aren't the most powerful form of archery... the composite bow is actually much more powerful.

true.

The big advantage of a crossbow was that it was very easy to learn how to aim with it so much easier to train troops that used it. To use a normal bow you need a lot more training to get the arrow close enough to the target to be usefull in combat.

This ment the crossbow was often used by people who were volunteers and new to the army and not really profesionals.

I'm not sure what the point of your comment is.

@ zanzibar

I just wanted to say that I'm not an expert on this topic and like to learn something I didn't know before.
