If I got the question right (and I doubt it ;-) ) then it's 0.

Bingo. The shortest of elves would be 1.50 and the tallest of dwarves would too. A hammerweilder can look at any elf straight in the eye! (and by average sizes I meant to disregard those who would say "taller that any other <race> you've ever seen" in their description).

"Hydlaa".

As a sidenote, Vodúl isn't known to the Yliaki, though, just to the players. He's not even an option in the CC, whereas the BF, which isn't known in Yliakum, either, is.

Edit: also, the rock doesn't need to be resilient to the crystal's radiation: the part of the crystal that radiates can be expected to be lower than the ceiling (like an optical fiber, the radiation likely exits at the end only). Given that it takes only 12 steps to where the radiation ceases to be powerful enough to dissociate matter, the amount of this protrusion doesn't even have to be big. This also means that the crystal wouldn't be able to create a cave larger than with 12steps (possibly metres) radius.

Correct answer! Hydlaa is the glyph after which Talad named his city. The power to create life is attributed to it.

I'm afraid that's not accurate enough. Try to rephrase that.

Right. They actually didn't come or go anywhere. They stayed where they were created.

Given that it needs to reach from the surface down into Yliakum, "thousands of metres". I assume it to be ~10km.

Indeed. Since the bottom of the crystal is where the stalactite hangs and it is located thousands of meters below the surface, we can infer that the crystal itself is thousands of meters high. Next question:

*     *     *
Who made the fact that Yliakum was an underground world built inside a stalactite common knowledge and how accepted is this theory?

Some Xacha scientists. The theory is unproven (but obviously supported by the downwards decreasing diameters of the levels. IIRC, according to the mining book ingame, it is sufficiently accepted to forbid mining on all but the first level).
