Alecin adds his name to the list of Warriors.

He hopes to win at least one duel.

Both of you have been added (as you hopefully know by now!!).

------------------

No more sign-ups!!! - Sign-up period has now passed.

28 days remaining to complete duels.

------------------

@Rongar... (re: your post below) - That result has now been added to the league table.

Hey Drah,

sorry to use a post here to point that out, but I lost an official one against Ahodigie, already 2 days ago and it hasnt been updated on the table yet. But because I dont want Ahodigie or anyone else to think, that I "lost memory" about this fight, I wanted to make things clear as soon as possible now.

Thanks in advance,

Rongar

League Table Clean-Up

Any competitors with less than 5 duels by February 26th (well over the half-way point) will be disqualified from the league..

This is for several practical reasons... (To block potential conspiracy to distort scores and to make the 'clean-up' in the last week of the league more manageable.)

This effects the following 14 competitors:

Alliva, Anine, Arunis, Bikrof, Cahngui, Cilay, Chazarus, Gankro, Narure, Nefert, Restound, Sissarliss, Tanner, Zwenze.

Xylaal has left the competition voluntarily.

We're Effected By A Wipe!!!

(Related thread is here.)

Prizes will be changed to items due to the 'economy crash'... see first post in thread for more details.

Unless the GMs want to help fund the competition of course ;)

My Absence

I will be absent for a few days this month.

In my absence (if absent for more than 24 hours), when a decision is required in a dispute (or anything else that would have been solely down to my decision), Gharin will take my place and make the decision for me.

Although there are many of you who I trust.. I've based this decision on his additional experience with running competitions.

The following people have all submitted results to the league table before and may also be able to help if they're around:

Arerano, Cebot, Epyrion, Gharin, Marqsaynt, Segacy, Symasta

Scoring / Ranking / Etc

Also a note on the scores... the scores I last posted were "percentage-of-games-fought-that-were-won", they were not an overall percentage in the competition. (If we did it this way, you could win one fight and be 'unavailable' for all the rest to secure the 1st place!!! - which would be insane)

If you want to see the score table (below the leage table).. visit THIS link instead.

Apologies for bumping the thread but it's relevant to the update and the thread was starting to get buried.

Due to the following PVP changes in 0.3.018:

- We can no longer attack PCs behind or to the side of us.
- The attacks auto-repeat as if fighting an NPC.
- New stat trainers mean some players are considerably stronger than others so the balance of competitor-strength is not what it was a few days ago.

The deadlines for the YWL will be extended by at least 14 days to allow for training and to give the devs time to resolve the PVP issues.

I'd like to withdraw please Drah the new system is too random for me, I mean there is literally no player skill involved it's just hit the button and move at 'em. I'm not trying to put peoples hard work down but the system seems to have taken a few steps back rather than forward.

I'll just stick to RPing for now til it gets some changes  ;)

I couldnt agree more with you Gharan. The new combat system has nothing to do with your duel-skill anymore. Its all about luck, and if it doesnt get changed, I will retire from the YWL and from duels in general. The new system gives duel-begiiners the chance on winning against a professional/experienced dueler. I could live with the new "face your enemy if you want to hit" rule, but that you dont jump out of stance automatically anymore, means the end to our beloved hit&run duels. I dont know, why this way of dueling was an "unfun way" in the opinion of the devs. It was trainable and the most used way of dueling in Yliakum.

rongar what you talking about it dosent stop hit and run if your really botherd then have a button to stop your attack when it fails and if you dont stop it itsd actualy better cause it keeps timeing the 2 seconds for you also with this new system should stop the attack spammers the ones that hit it constantly and really do win by pure luck.

It doesnt stop the attack spammers, because if you add a short cut /stopattack, you change stance every time afterwards. AND: If your opponent stays in stance from the beginning on, you cant evaluate anymore, when his timing/delay will run out, because you dont see him changing into stance anymore. His delay runs out constantly and repeats and repeats. This means, that luck will decide, when you have chosen to get close to him, if you happen to run into his hit or not, because you dont know, when he will hit. Before the update, you saw your opponent changing stance, and knew what to do. That is not possible anymore, if your opponent stays in stance the whole time. It is great, that you dont get pushed and pulled anymore now, and i also appreciate, that you have to be facing your opponent, in order to hit. But this doesnt weigh up the factor of luck, that has been added to the new duel system, after the update.

Now taking votes:

- Scrap event completely?

- Suspend event until PVP is changed?

- Continue Anyway?

I'd like to change my vote to "continue anyway" but how about the idea of a one week break to allow people to get used to the new system. I only had a few duels so I haven't even truly tested it out yet. And hell with all the bugs gone we may call it better in a week.  ;D

So I suggest a one week break Drah but that's just my thoughts.  :)

Good to hear Gharin.

After having a few duels with Felinius, Rongar and Dazx... I've come to the conclusion that we can still do timed attacks... though I also won a few rounds auto-attacking, standing-still in an alcove with SW daggers... which was thoroughly disappointing (but I'll say no more than that on the subject)

Although the League isn't suspended... I don't think anyone is going to want to duel unless they have some more time to practice with the new system... for that reason I'm extending the competition deadlines and will set a new deadline soon.

I'm going to hold off on setting any dates until things settle down though, because right now, it's hard to predict what tomorrow will bring!!

To all YWL competitors:

Please try to train up with the new combat system.  If you miss the old dueling style... the best advice I can give right now is to introduce the use of a "/stopattack" shortcut along with your normal attack shortcut so that you can re-establish timed-attacks, tactics, etc. - Try to practice with this, it seems to get a bit closer to how things were before (once you get used to it!)

rofl dosent make much differance to me for some reason for a long time in pvp i havent seen changeing to attack so you know also i usualy time ppl when im faceing them not at the side of them ect so i dont have many probs with that either.

Drah if this event is still going on go ahead and remove me. I tried dueling with the new system but it is pointless for me.  I'm lucky to win one duel in 5 against people weaker than me(due to lag i guess) Rell is officially retired.

It's was fun while it lasted.
