install/connection problem
« on: April 24, 2007, 12:38:04 pm »
When I installed the client, "localhost" appears in the server box. I found the config file, but it doesn't seem to have the server in there. Where can I set the server's IP/host name?

Also, I'm using the FreeBSD client - it installed the configuration in /usr/local/lib/planeshift/planeshift.cfg - is that the decision of the porter or your team? If the latter, may I ask why it isn't in an */etc directory?

I havent heard of this particular problem myself, sounds a bit like its looking for a test server running on your machine. You should open the file servers.xml in your data directory in the PS install directory and edit the relevant sections to use the PS server at:

URL:  laanx.fragnetics.com
Port:  UDP 7777

I think that should solve the problem and if im wrong someone will no doubt correct me.

(you might not need the port number, its hard for me to be sure because im at work and dont have my client to look at)

Thanks, that fixed it, but now I'm getting a bunch of errors, my guess is that the FreeBSD port isn't up to snuff yet.

WINE with the windows client works, but it can find any mirrors to update.

Thanks, that was my guess giving news items, but I wanted to make sure given that I've been seeing "please make sure to run the updater" in big somewhat friendly blue letters.
