@Parallo It would be OOC to treat a 'character that is a local middle aged man' as a total newbie to the area, but it would be understandable to treat them as a convert to a different role that they have little or no knowledge of. I agree that /tell would be the best way to treat a person such as this; when was the last time you met a brand new player who RPed in such a way that would close them off from their fellow players help straight away, I personally can only imagine this happening with someone who tries to play out their character choices as soon as they enter PS (which will never work under the current char creation system.)

I find it hard to think of a player new to PS who is a hardcore RPer and who really understands what PS is about from the outset. I see a few people who seem to be really kick ass RPers but have little knowledge of the settings and therefore can hardly fit in with them.

We must all know that the settings and RP guides are VERY rarely read before a player starts to explore PS. We dont come here with the intention of staying as long as we all have, we come because it is free, open-source-ish, and it looks good, but we stay because we learn how things work and we like it.

We also know that alot of players have little time to help these new players, I have experienced it myself during simple 'community testing' and I had dismal sucsess.

Without the helper guilds to ease these people into the game, PS would not have as many current members as it does.

Thank you karyuu for your support  . On behalf of ' The Helpers of yliakum' guild, i would like to thank Parallo and Idoru for giving us a chance to explain and correct the perceptions that players may have of our guild  . 

I understand that this change between OOC and IC that our guild's members have to undertake may not be well received by some players who are very IC  . Forgive us for continuing in this method, as it has been proven to be most effective. My apologies for not having yet posted the IC story and other links in Guild Directory yet  . As i have mentioned in my earlier posts, the guild leader has to post it, as his IC is intrinsically linked to the Guild's IC. He has been very busy in real life and will do it as soon as he can . Any further information or advice by fellow players on how the guild can help within the game can be posted here. We thank you in advance for such postings and look forward to reading them  .

Lets all work together as players to improve the game with whatever abilities we have ! Cos, its the best we can do.... and thats sure gonna make the game feel a whole lot better, to and for us!  [err got a bit complicated at the end here  ]

As Oningo said I have been very busy in rl (and still will be for a long time )
I will post our IC story as soon as the guild has voted upon which one suits us best.

 A group of outcasts from cities, villages and portals unknown had been traveling together as a wandering community for years, without resources or shelters they needed on a day to day basis. They gathered food that they could with the know how they had, made shelters out of what they could.

Then one night, while settled all by a tiny fire, they heard whispers coming from the near by forest. These whispers told them of a city and land with great opportunity far away. These whispers also promised to help them find there way there. However, the reason for this kindness would never be known.As to who or what the voice was, no one knows and it will forever remain a mystery. Although some think it was a divine being.

It still took months and great distances, but the group eventually managed to find their way to this 'promised' land. In memory of the help that they were so kindly shown, they created a guild, a community, a promise to lend their hand and be the new voices of help for any other fallen, lost or distraught individuals.

Many years have passed since then, but that community still exists. Great stories from far and wide are told of beings lending a helping hand to those in need of it.

I think it is not about just helping newbies... you can help everyone even they are not new in the game
