... chatbubbles? I thought the community decided against them?
And who said the community has any decion-making power here besides stop playing PlaneShift?
Ah, of course. Except that I remember a number of devs hating the idea when some new players made the suggestion. I guess they pulled a 180 on the issue?
Persuasion and influence is something I didn't mention here. I was talking about actual power to go for something that even though the majority agrees/disagrees with, the only definitive authority of the project, Talad, has the opposite opinion. So in fact, the community is poweless, though it can attempt to persuade about certain things. However, the basic framework of PlaneShift, that was already thought up even before it was launched as free, will be as easy about to convince the devs to change for something else the most of community would see as better than to drive a nail with a wrecking ball. And anyway, fortunately the chat bubbles aren't hardcoded and you can delete them by simply moving or erasing a xml file, though now I also agree that the effort spent on them would be better spent in another feature, or in more bug fixes and solidity.
