Hey... how do you do that? I'm having the same problem on my new computer, and I thought I had to buy a whole new card, not just update the drivers...

still it's always smart to have the most resent driver's, there's bound to be some game that has a problem with older drivers

It depends - if you have a really weak integrated graphics chipset instead of a video card, you might be stuck with such graphics. More often than not however all you need is a driver update. If you don't know what graphics card you have, (on Windows) point to the Start button and click Run. Type dxdiag in the box and press return. In the new window, go to the Display tab, and read "Name" and "Manufacturer". "Name" is the name and model of your card, and "Manufacturer" is self-explanatory.

If you think you may not have the latest driver version for your card:

For NVidia, visit www.nvidia.com
For ATI, visit www.ati.com
For anything else, use www.Google.com to find the correct manufacturer address.
Judge: Are you trying to show contempt for this court, Mr Smith?
Smith: No, My Lord. I am attempting to conceal it.

I'm pretty sure I got the latest drivers but I still have this problem... I now know my hardware is good enough, so it must be a software problem. I get a yellow bar on startup that says something about "crystalspace.canvas.openglwin: No hardware acceleration!" How do I fix it?

more information about your system would help. "Openglwin" looks like you are using windows but the rest of the problem looks like you are running linux without the proprietary graphics drivers. The type of video card would also help.

I think I'm getting closer to the problem... It turns out I was trying to get the drivers for the desktop X1600 version, not the laptop one. So I got the right one and now I'm trying to get the software to work, but Windows keeps blocking it from working at startup. I turned off the security feature that I think is in the way... hopefully it will work now.
