the Kendaro thinks the options weren\'t enough. when the Kendaro sees someone die, the Kendaro sees the hand of a god wisk the soul to a place it has grown affinity to. then it rematerializes as life. it is like the person has not died but has been wisked away at time of death by the gods and given life anew. the Kendaro also sees that these new lives are more actualy brought back from time and space. they have been striped of life experiences from a day or sometimes more.

(OOC: since no one has ever died in PlaneShift, this is more of an opinion of what is wanted and not to be taken as how things will be.)

right....I think when you die in hell a few too many times you permanently die or you get teleported out, but when you get teleported out, you lose all but 2 things you were carrying

i think the others are too harsh, i think dying should be rather common, not too much though. I think you should loose all you are holding to the player that killed you.

I dont think losing everything is reasonable unless you have a place to store stuff.  I think there should be certain items you cant lose, in case you need it for something specific, quests or what ever

I think, unusually for a game, dying should be very uncommon! I think it is something that players should try to avoid at all cost, people should take better care of their characters, and be penalized for recklessness.

The options arent enough. I think when you die you should lose half of the money you\'re carrying and some items.
Should you be able to control which items you want to keep or should it be totally random? ?(

maybe hell as a maze would be good, you gotta try to find the way out in a time limit... Could be something like traps instead of \"demons\".  \"Oops, I went the wrong way, back to the start!\" That would give you the time to recover, and have to do something creative with your time other then dieing!

well i was kinda thinking that maybe we could have a system where u can donate items and money at some kind of church or alter and the amount of money u donate (based on lvl) is how much teh gods like u... doing things like killing people and bad things can reduce the amount the gods like u. And when u die there is a certain chance that the gods will reach down and save u from dying (tele-port u away). So if u donate alot and dont do bad things u have a chance at not loosing anything.

that system was used in a game called mersenaries of astonia and it worked out great.

Also say if u die though.. i believe u should be sent to like a grave-yard or monestary or something like that...

i once played a game where when i died u got tele-ported to some place and it was very confusing for new people because they dont know whats going on. i dont think it worked well at all.

About keeping items... when u die i think u should probably loose a set amount of stuff ... like 3 random things... that way u can get lucky and loose like 3 dinky things... or really unlucky adn loose ur prized sword or something. Makes it interesting...

Its not a good idea to let poeple pick what they want to keep because then they may just no-care about dying at all. And that would defeat the whole purpose of dying. It must be a BAD experience.
i lost my sig... i hope ur happy

Death is tricky.  The penalty should be heavy.  One of the obvious goals of the game is to stay alive.  At the same time, no one who has spent time gaining exp and getting good items is going to want to restart after death.

I like the idea of a comprimise.  You lose all of your items, and they can be picked up by another (hopefully a fellow guild member who would keep them for you).  You keep your experience, but you are sent to a world of lost souls.  You must battle your way out, but the battles will give you no exp.  The battles should be hard, so the lost souls should probably band together to get out.  It would get real interesting you you were pked, then the person who killed you was offed by one of your guild members.   :))   Anyway, once you reach the entrance back to earth(or whatever the planet will be called), you are transported to the \"temple of resurrection\" of your choice, convieniently located in towns and cities.   :]

If you get killed in the place of lost souls, you simply restart and try to get out again.  Maybe there could be multiple starting points, or even multiple worlds where lost souls go.

Just my thoughts.

But on the other side too harsh punishment would make people quit after they die two or more times, I would say lose a random number of items, if the character killing you has a lower level you lose multiple items how many depends on level, if the character is of higher level you lose one item and if he\'s miles above you you lose nothing, if several people band togheter their levels are counting up, meaning that 500 peanuts can\'t band up to go a item stealing trip, when you die you go to hell if you have done many evil  things and too heaven if you are good. In inferno you are forced to battle a shard of every persons soul (Pc:s you have killed that is) that you have killed, you gain no experience and the horrors could make your hair go white, when you have killed those shard they vanish deeper down in the levels of hell, the deeper they come the more tormented and stronger they become (Endure and in Enduring grow strong), the more evil you are the deeper you come, you must go up every level of hell, and in every level you meet atleast one shard, when you come to the last level you are forced too battle Cereberos (three-headed dog), if you win you break out of the gates of hell apearing in the place where your heart are bound (home often, for some it may be Kada-Els BBB 8) ), a bit scorched but anyway, if you die you are tormented in hell for some time until you have paid for your transgressions, dissipating one shard out of inferno, making it easier next time, if you doesn\'t go on a killing spree.
In the beatiful Elysium home of the untold beauty and the most glamourus parties ever seen, there in the palace of wonder you will drink, eat and enjoy yourself (after a time you get out, with full health, no exhaustion and no hunger) when your personal festival is over you come to the place your heart is bound (Kada-Els BBB :P , or sometimes Home).

I think that we have to think about what would be more fun, and specifically not FRUSTRATING. I think that the hell idea might be interesting once, but would get boring time after time. And yes people ARE going to die many times in this game, as the odds will probably be stacked against you in some places, and you might have no idea what is coming next. I think that losing all but a few items is ok, and possibly spells to protect more items. But dying permenently is out out of the question, as no one would play the game. It would be awful to have to start over again after becoming experienced.

i really dont think that battleing out of heaven or hell is neccesary to this game, and it just makes the release of the real game(not the demo) further away! just be boring and restart in town

I think that people should use caution at certain times and try to keep there characters from getting killed.

An idea i had in another post was along the line of life points you get a certain amount of them and they do recharge in time you can also use life points in life giving spells to raise a friend or allie but that life point is then taken from you until it is recharged.
One of the ideas i had for recharging them was to go into a dream world a tiny mini world that is random and find an item and then by praying or meditating you would fill it with essence then you could either drink it or offer it to the gods .Recharging yourself.
This would take time to do of course and people wouldnt be carelessly dieing all the time they would try to handle situations like real life ones that they were placed into also you could make it so they could use a life point if they had one stored up to immediately come back from the dead somewhere.
This way those people that are loners or bad guys could still have a way to come back if they were all alone.
I think also that if you had no life points and werent raised by another person that you should lose all your items except for what you have in a bank or house .
If you die though I would have to say you drop all items that you are holding in your hands that arent attached to you...meaning weapon most likely...however I would also say that there would be a short time where you would have to remain dead and that somebody could steal from you at this time.
Sure alot of pkers wont agree with this because there afraid of dieing and having no friends to back them up but it does mantain a bit of realism as well as making it a bit worthwhile because then the killer could steal from the person and so on but also friends of the victim could try to aid him by stopping the killer from stealing any of the goods.
The only pros and cons of this are that cetain people want to have all the power and this would stop them from doing that unless they were clever.
the fighting your way out of hell idea would be really nice to add say if you died without any life points or whatever you wish to call them and having nobody around to raise em sacrifice a life point for but away to keep them from dieing permently.

personally, i like stickman\'s idea about the temple and karma thing. And maybe we could have a spell called \"resurrection\". where hi-lvl ppl can increase their karma by bringing dead ppl to life. :D
