they are sold by NPC's or given to your character as quest rewards.

which NPC's or which quest's are spoilers and are to be found out in game, one way or another.

Another question;; I got the Bjorid quest ages ago.
And I forgot what I had to do, but it won't let me discard and start again.

What should I do?

There should be a file with your logs in the logs directory in the planeshift directory. The name will be nameofyourcharacter_chat.txt. Try to find the conversation with Bjorid in there.
