What version of MSVC do you need to use?
« on: December 20, 2007, 06:39:20 pm »
On the compiling guide it does not say anything about what version you need, but it does not say anything about MSVC 9.0.
I have MSVC 9.0, and the compiling guide goes up to 8.0 wich is the 2005 edition.
So can I use MSVC 9.0? Or do I have to downgrade to a prevus version?

Thanks in advance!
Gergon

MSVC 9.0 should work, the guide just was not updated.

I am just not sure of how many developers are using MSVC 9.0. If it is that different from other editions and no developers are using it you might get some incompatibility error, but if the changes are minor, you should have no problems.

PS and CS should be fully "compatible" with MSVC 9.0.
We're not evil. We're simply amazing.

It works fine with 9, but not with our current CS branch. I would recommend 8.0 for most people for now.

Does this mean that you use 9.0, Xordan? ;-)

MSVC 9.0 is MSVC 2008.  I have it on my laptop, I just don't ever use it because I'm a MinGW kind of guy.

Yes, I use 9.0 :) I don't use the recommended branch or revisions though, so it works okay for me.
