um ... id like not to think that this game was made with out mouse implementations ... i hate turning with arrow keys ... also i cant find an option screen to change it ... even doom had mouse movement ... and doom 2 had mouse look .. so i would hope planeshift does too

*whispers*  To use \"mouse look\", either hit # or \\ .  (It says so in the directions in your PlaneShift directory...  Y\'know, the \'Guide\' Folder and the \'.HTM\' files inside.)

Also, you can edit your keyboard mapping system by going into \"keys.xml\" and changing the settings.

An Options screen hasn\'t been implimented yet because this game is Pre-Alpha; said keys could possibly change as time goes on, so it is best to add those things in last to avoid any problems/discrepancies.

Also, this isn\'t a FPS like Doom.

You don\'t need pinpoint, split-second control of where you are looking.  What you need is a mouse that can select things, activate commands, etc.

Think about it...  ;-)

You\'ve got an extraordinarily good point there, Vengeance.

You need the mouse control to select things, more then you need mouse movement control.

Then again...if you really dont need the ability to select with your mouse...

(first post: at least I didn\'t start a new thread like I thought of)

I would use the mouse look most of the time for moving around and stuff and switch back to the other mode with the \\ key or whatever to pick up something and other stuff when I needed to.

Not everyone. I had to read this thread before even noticing that I don\'t use the mouse. It\'s not that bad.

the thing is, if the mouse look mode would actually change the direction you\'re facing I would like it better...right now, when I go into mouse look mode, I move the mose left, the view shifts left, but the movement keys still make me go the same directions as before.....or something....like the mouse look is only turning the character\'s head, I wish it would turn the same way as the arrow keys do.....that wouldn\'t be too hard, and apparantly not too many people are attached to how the mouse look works right now....or are you?

I am! The coolest part about this game is that you can turn your head upside-down. I\'ve never seen another game that can do that.  After you get used to the way a game feels, you don\'t worry about it.  It\'s like playing 007 again after palying Halo, you can\'t figure out how looking and moving could be on the same stick.

But people don\'t want two hands on the keyboard most of the time.
People like to keep a hand on the mouse, and not have to lift it off the keyboard, to the mouse, just to use an option ;D

Bare in mind a lot of gamers _are_ from games suchas Doom, and are used to that method of playing style.

Although it is nice to have an option for keyboard control - its also nice to have an option for mouse control.

I\'m glad both are included.

I\'m suprised nobody else gawked in horror at this. :P No Options screen? Have you never looked at your menu?

And editing the keys directly in the file? You can change them in the Options menu!

\\ is auto run, and # is nothing.
TAB is MouseLook by default.

Difference is, I don\'t want MouseLook, I want to control the turning of the character (currently the arrow keys) with the mouse.
