Not weird...it sounds pretty logical that there is players who wanna explore, be social and get to know the game. It\'s not more weird than those XP hunters who run around and kill monsters to gain XP just to impress newbies.

XP-hunter -  ;)   Yeah, it took me \"wink, wink\" three years of hard work to get this far.

Newbie  -  *looks impressed* Ooooh! you\'re cool! I wanna become like you! etc.

Ty, I feel almost the same way. I don\'t mind not being hight lvl, but I bet ya, in the same amount of time that it took that XP hunter to do all his stuff, I will know WAAAAAYYY more about the game and be much more \"rounded\" than he.

back to meditation and prayer...
I don\'t think that prayer (in the sense of asking for things) should be implemented, and if it is, it should be restricted to certain things such as temporary bonuses, food and just maybe some sort of quest.  Meditation is an incredible idea, yet has been banalised by games like everquest as a normal method of resting.  Restorative meditation should only be an available resourse in certain situations.  Basically what I am saying is that the area that you rest in should have an effect on the restoration of the body and mind if you have the meditation skill.  Perhaps they can be rated from lowest (back alley in slums) to highest (Sylvan chapel, or cathedral, depending on beliefs and connection with nature) to determine the restorative powers of your meditation.  Perhaps votives and incense can increase this recovery.

hm... that sounds cool (btw I havn\'t played everquest so I dunno) yeah, besides, meditation in and of itself is a form of prayer (or as some people like to say, prayer can be done by meditation) so mebbe the two could be intertwined...

No offense, but I think parayer sounds like a really bad idea. It\'s just a way to gain bonuses without doing anything. Unless the chances of anything happening is really low.  Meditation isn\'t that bad, though. I think that\'s a swell idea to have certain places where meditative effectiveness is higher. Also, the more people there are in an area, the lower the meditative property will be. That would be cool, realistic, and prevent temples from being overpopulated by meditators. Then the lone monk who wanders off into the woods and meditates gains an advantage.
You are here,
You will always be here,
You will never be there.
Although you may strive to get there,
upon reaching there you will realize you are really here.
And there is everywhere else.

yeah, I like that. the loner (like strider in LOTR) would learn a lot more (the longer one meditates the more one learns...?) than say someone who doesn\'t meditate at all.
