Joombiel sits under a tree eating an apple.  He picks up another book, reads......and waits for his friends to return.

Prolix, that server will run the PSserver, and not the client. ;) The server is just a console app.

It's ok that the server is down ;)
But maybe it would be a good idea to change the time estimate of 6-8 hours in the news section on the homepage  :-X

And it could be good to have just some time estimate or nice just hear something about what is happening.. ::|

Well, of course, I realize that and that there is likely no graphical user interface (Xorg) installed so that a deb file is unlikely to be built for the client on that machine. It was an afterthought to the main question. A means of living up to my name, if you will. I had thought Ubuntu was more of a desktop distribution but I suppose they have server installs as well. Is the package management really preferable or is it more to do with repository configurations?

I guess this is more off than on topic though so I'll leave it at that.

I vote for changing it to: "To be back soon(TM)"  ;)

* Myysst figures it to be a typo, not 6-8 hours, but less than 68 hours lol...or, even more precisely, soon(tm)

*Myysst, having input his 2 tria, leaves to read a book, or failing that, watch something entertaining...
...erm...I'm dead?

Yep, something like that..
That would be less misleading, and by that less irritating..

Patience, children. All in good time. Complaining gets you nowhere! I am sure it will be worth the wait. Go read a book or do some homework. The original thread, before it was changed said, "Please don't wait." That in itself should tell you something, right?

I am for one not just complaining but trying to give a suggestion, for a later similar situation.
I am a new user, and did at first not know that I needed to go here for information about the server downtime. I just read the post about it on the main homepage, and was of course confused since the information was clearly not correct.

To avoid confusion or irritation they could update the information, put a link leading here, or write something about what they are going to do, and give no estimated time.

Since there is an estimated time on the homepage, it is easy to think that this will be somewhat close to that.

Given all the experiences from the past, I strongly believe that it would be best if no time scale at all would be given. As they seem to be wrong too often anyway, they are of no help and just confusing and/or frustrating if people expect them to be right.

I would recommend a link to this thread on the main page for more info in place of the 68 hour estimate.  ;)

This thread seems to be an orchard...
