I have made a new effect [slightly modified] for Rock Armor.

to apply this you need to override the existing rock_armor.eff in data/effects/spells with the following one http://planeshift3dmod.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/planeshift3dmod/Caarrie/data/effects/spells/rock_armor.eff?content-type=text%2Fplain

I will not host the art for effects i modify unless they are not under the ps license.

We now have a new strength effect

this effect is "attached" to the head of the character so no matter what race you play the effect will be equal distance above their head.

you need 2 files to add this effect

I think the original Life infusion effect was somewhat better. No blue and someting else i can't remember ;p like maybe different movement near the ground.

I never liked Strength effect.
One would expect that magic causes some visual effects uppon casting and something uppon releasing and these effects somewhat fall under the same physical or other laws. Same laws which rule the life in Yliakum, how the trees grow, the wind blow and everything else. So, magic is normal part of the world.
But what the heck makes that spell to generate a fancy image of fist(s) above the casters head? :o Why the heck does the spell does that. It doesn't make much sense with the above. Maybe the caster wants that symbol to appear? But why does he want that if it is in his own interest that the enemy doesn't know what spell is going to be used against him?

If you fixed that, Caarrie, that would be a mod! A MOD! ';D

i cant draw at all so i cant create new art to use in making effects, so i am limited to what ps has already. There was a plan almost a year ago to redo all effects but that fell though with lack of time on the devs side. So i have been working on the side to do a few things but yet i cant do too much unless people give me some art to work with. I made the orginal rock armor effect we have now ingame, but i could not have done anything like it if cherppow was not around to make me the rock wall we have now.

And i don't know what one can allow himself from the code side ;)

Another problem may be that someone like me has no good way of vieving the current effects.

you can build your psclient and use eedit to view the effects ;)

I am willing to try to do any requests but i will not put a deadline on them, this can include new effects for spells that dont have any yet. keep in mind any effects i do for this project will not be submitted to talad for including in the official client if they are they will be modified in someway to make them different.

well i don't have any art, but if someone could make and post some effects for dark way spells weakness and taste of death that would be sweet.  It's not really neccesary, but it would be cool cuz the effects for those spells are boring.  Also i love the new life infusion spell, it's sweet.  :thumbup:

those effects are fixed [had a bug] they should be in the next update

New dark way effects were just implemented, but unfortunately casting taste of death as fast as possible at lvl 100 blots out nearly 1/3 of my screen with the huge black cloud-like effect.  Makes it very difficult to see how close my enemy is to me, so for now i just edited death.part and set the duration to 0 so I can't see the effect at all.  It would be very nice if someone who knows how to alter effects could maybe make it a ton more transparent, or smaller, or something.

[edit]  P.S.  I really love the new effect though, just love being able to see while i fight a little more  :P

Open the death.part file with your text editor, revert your last change and try this:

find the line that reads:
Code: [Select]
<particlesize x="2" y="2" />
and replace it with
Code: [Select]
<particlesize x=".5" y=".5" /> this will just decrease the size of the effect and not disable it totally


and it will now look like:
