old domains

Did your previous host keep your old domains so that you had to register new ones? Does your new host own this domain so that if you run into problems you will need to change them again?
It seems to me that there is a growing trend with these cheap hosting companies to really discourage successful site. Another forum I am associated with had the same kind of trouble with bluehost.
Fortunately one of their members had a mostly idle co-located server and the interest in maintaining it.
* Prolix grumbles, now I have to change my bookmarks ;(

Hmm just thought of something else. All the self-referential links in all the threads are now bad, will someone be going into the database and replacing "hydlaa.com"  with "hydlaaplaza.com"? it ought to be possible with a single SQL command.

Yeah, pretty odd that hydlaa.com is gone. Isn't that a registered name of the Atomic Blue foundation? It should be, and kept too.

It may just be a case of bad timing causing a delay of the transfer. The domain is registered to acraig so perhaps his registrar does not have good tools for direct control of the dns pointers.

I registered hydlaaplaza.com for a couple of reasons.   I still have hyldaa.com

I did this for a couple of reasons.
1)  This is my first time using a virtual private server so wanted to keep the two seperate as possible.
2)  I use hydlaa.com for my personal email as well so didn't want to have any interruptions there.
3) If this doesn't workout then I can get my money back and no worries about getting things set back up again.

It might be a small pain to change some of the links around but it would be a very big pain for me perosnally if something got messed up.   It just made my life easier for me to do it this way.

Thank you for taking the time to explain. Whatever suits you best is obviously the way to go, as you are the one who has to do it. I was just kind of curious and thought I'd point out that link problem as an afterthought.
