Loading books (again)
« on: May 19, 2009, 10:50:00 am »
MacBook5,1
OSX 10.5.6

I tried to load a book from a text file I have in my desktop; I typed the address: /Users/<my username>/Desktop/<filename>.txt but the client said "File not found". I tried to save the .txt file in the "books" folder (/Users/.../Application Support/PlaneShift/books/<filename>.txt): "File not found". What am I doing wrong?  :-\

And yes, I've searched the forum. With no luck (not counting that the search 'load book' gives a flood of results with the words 'upload', 'download', 'MacBook'...  ::| ).

EDIT: Solved. Sorry, I gave up too early. For future readers, the correct address is ~/Desktop/etc. without the '/Users/<name>' part.

Good for you. My additional advice is the text file have a size don't forget that.

EDIT: Solved. Sorry, I gave up too early. For future readers, the correct address is ~/Desktop/etc. without the '/Users/<name>' part.

The tilde '~' is a shortcut for the directory '/Users/<name>'. If the program does not realize this, then the program is designed poorly. I would recommend contacting the program's creator, or if it's a PS function, I would post a report using bugtracker.
