Not sure if this is a bug or what, but...

On my kran character I've been trying to create iron stock. I have ten molten iron, I've gotten metallurgy training (or so I think, it's still at 0 even though I bought a skill level from Harnquist) and I put the molten iron in a slot in the stock cast. I've done the quest and gotten the book from Harnquist that should teach me what I need to make stock and weapons and such. However, when I put the iron in the stock cast, it tells me I don't know what to do with the molten iron. I thought I wasn't trained enough so I attempt to buy another skill level (the bar is only partly green and I'm still a level 0) and it tells me I can't. Is this a bug or do I need to level up more before I can make a stock? I'm at a loss as to what to do.

At level 0 you can only create the basic items (ingots), you will need to train to a higher level before you can make more complicated items (stocks). For specifics on the levels you should ask a player in game (as we can't give spoilers here).

That's just the thing though. I can't even make ingots. It won't let me. Unless I'm doing something wrong...

You need the "working with stock" book "in mind". ie placed over the brain symbol in the inventory window.
