How many maps do you plan on carrying around ?

You can save the contents of a map or book to a file and then load that data into a blank book on demand.
Its much easier to have a bunch of empty books and a directory full of files than a ton of written books.

But only in case you create the maps or write the books yourself. If you buy books or maps from someone else, you can't save them in your system. Real weight for map can be between 0.1 and 0.25 kg, but 1 kg is equal for bunch of maps.

If I may add, a book is also around 1kg each so it is like carrying the enciklopedia around with you while the real thing you have is merely a guide that usually is lightweight. That doesn't seem realistic to me.

not sure were you got that, i've done a few quests were you have to get paper and ink from jayose
