Starting up a computer museum
« on: April 10, 2010, 09:37:38 pm »
Yep as the topic says, i'm actually doing that and thought i'd share the url here for you guys to see.
The museum is atm only on the internet and may not grow beyond that as i have no space yet to actually show off the collection. :-[

Note. the site is in a continued update spree atm and can have new stuff every day, this is cause i'm going thrue my stuff and updating it as i go along.

So anyway here's the url and hopefully the site can spur some interest. ;)

Nice project.

Funny design ... just wonder why the stylesheet reloads each time, making it flash on each click. Did you deny caching in metas?

Ah, memories... My first computer was a Laser 128 Apple II clone my dad probably bought at Sears. A few years later I remember trips to this giant warehouse store to dig through $1 bins of 5 1/2 floppy disks after they had gone out of vogue. Good times.

Insane Impressive collection, Elvi. Good luck with the museum.

the only reason i can think of the flashing is that each click shows a new page and i havn't added anything in meta

Strange thing, the HTML/CSS looks well done. And browsers should be able to know: "This is the same stylesheet I already cached, I can apply it already." - It might help to redundantly add the 'background="black"' attribute to the body tag.

My first "Home Computer" (they are slightly different to "Personal Computers", I believe) was a C=16 :P

You should try to get some Home Computers from Robotron, like KC-85/2 or KC-87, if you can. Extremely rare nowadays, especially outside the former GDR. Or a legendary PC-1715. There were even construction sets without keyboards, where people created some e.g. with model train signal box key groups.

actually the css is loaded with every page and background is loaded from css, i won't go thrue every page to add the color thing to html cause the pages are getting many now, would take awhile to clean up.

Pretty good Elvi
Are there any more stuff than:
Processors
RAM
HDD and
Cards?

I wish you were in the US, I'd give you my old Microvax 6400. Well, then again, I might not. VMS rules!
