Problem with loading
« on: June 14, 2010, 02:19:58 am »
Ok, this is a strange bug. I suspect that some of my data server-side was messed up and might need to be manually changed. I'll describe what happened earlier and what is happening now in order to help pinpoint exactly what went wrong.

I was running from Hydlaa to the BD/Magic shop crossroads. Partway there I saw a segment of the path missing. I've seen bugs like this before and the area usually loads as I walk into it. It didn't this time, and instead I fell. It tried to reposition me but I got caught in an infinite falling loop. /unstick wasn't helping, so I tried /die. This only exacerbated the problem, and I was stuck in some sort of an infinite loop where I saw a black screen with my char's image creating a streak upwards and then I got taken to the DR loading screen. Upon that screen loading, I was taken back to the black screen, completing the loop. I decided to log out and back in to see if that would fix it.

Upon reloading, I successfully login to SkyLab, but then the page hangs on the loading screen. I see "Loading..." and on the next line "Requesting connection". I see Hydlaa plaza on the loading screen. I also get the MOTD, and the random message that shows up in the bottom right-hand corner.

I suspect my location data on the server is corrupted. I don't know what I can do from my end. I tried using repair and everything checked out. I also tried a complete reinstall and that still doesn't work.

What is your character name and I can move you to a different location. That might help. you can be off line when I do this.

I'm Glaciusor Chrysius. Thanks for the quick reply. I suspect that that might fix the issue. My client might just be choking on invalid data from the server.

That fixed it. Also, apparently I need to wait a bit for it to load. When I logged on again, that area and a few adjacent segments weren't loaded, but after about a minute or so they loaded so I can leave the magic shop area.

if your computer is too slow, set background loading to models or off in the launcher. that way you won't get into unloaded parts at all. if you want to use background world loading, make sure your viewing range is big enough (I'd recommend at least 700).
