 Incredible - that's art!

And certainly the most female expression a male player could wish of his character. :P

Indeed, you would be a valuable addition for the team to add some pieces of art to the world of Yliakum. Maybe you even understand UV mapping easily?

And here's one more oldie, edited for the PS restrictions that don't allow nudity in art.

Hmmmm... those smilies are impressive artworks on their own.  ;D

I'd consider that when I had enough free time. UV mapping? No idea what it is even.

Have you ever tried texturing?

I'm guessing that has something to do with 3D modeling? Sounds kind of boring unless maybe it's to make a character model. I'd really love to design the look of one of the missing models in the game, like the nolthrir male.

Concept artist would be more to your liking than texturing then.  Texturing is making the file that gets pasted onto the 3D model.

textures are the 2D "skins" applied to models

Dannae: In short UV mapping means matching a two dimensional image onto a three dimensional surface. Or thinking other way around - taking a three dimensional surface, and figuring out how to make a two dimensional image that will texture it. U and V are just names for two dimensional coordinates, to distinguish them from three dimensional case.

If you want to understand it, read Cherppow's guide how to make bananas. Warning: Lots of images.

Yeah yeah yeah I realized who it was ten minutes after posting that. Artwork looks damn fantastic, and coloring to go with it! Plain impressive.

And HA at the Trav references in there. Always fun to have an impact.

For you Derula, here's the complete set of all of my in-game map art that I've created so far. As you know, it wouldn't have been possible for me without all of your help and of course your script which I am so appreciative for. I've not included 2 maps, 1 of the Hydlaa sewers and a 2nd of the Laanx dungeon so as not to be spoilers.

I've included, in some cases, sketches I made to go by in the vector program.... I used Illustrator. I invariably made most too complicated and would end up having to delete and simplify many lines in order to get the drawings down to the 200 element limit maps can accept. I think it counts each end point, curve point, and corner points of every line in a drawing as an element, so they have to be kept very simple. If the number could be doubled to 400, I'd have a lot easier time. My wish list would also include fills and stroke width capabilities, but have read those would not be simple to offer.

I've put medium size pics here with links to the full sized screenies. Hope you like.  :)

This was the first map art drawing I made and is still
one of my favorites.

This was my first map art portrait of another character

An enki just for fun.

This is a newer one that I quite like how it came out.
Dannae was commissioned to create the poster.

This was drawn for a barter with Ilaro where Dannae negotiated a
portrait for a tailored dress she needed for an upcoming party.
This one was commissioned for the Brotherhood of Talad to depict the
appearance of Talad to Lilura.
I had attempted to draw all of Lilura, but ended up having to delete most to
meet the map limits.

This one caused a problem when I changed it's name in-game
one day to Marathal. Apparently, I was told by a GM, this caused
Marathal's character information in the database to be replaced by my
map art of the same name. The character's information had to be
retrieved from backups when this was found out, and a revised naming
system designed to prevent this from happening again.

This is a certificate border originally designed for Raikana
to use with the newspaper. I will send the xml file to anyone who
might like to use this in game. You can add your own text after
importing the border to a map.

The next 4 were commissioned for Klyros Cultural Day

This next 4 are romance cards I was asked to make and sell at a
singles night event held at the Red Crystal Den. I also got to try my
hand at some poetry writing which may or may not have been a
good thing.  :whistling:
Dannae continues to sell these and will add a personalization line
of your choosing.

Awesome. Totally awesome.

Wow Dannae, I had absolutely no idea what the cards looked like. I knew the script helped somehow but I had no idea you were turning out art like this with the maps  :o This is really nice.

All very, very good :) Car loves that sketch of the enki in the helm that Dannae gave him almost as much as I do :)
Hey look kids, it's the antichrist Marsuveus!
What? Doesn't he just look huggable? Aw, c'mon, give him a hug.

Great hack Dannae! And of course beautiful art! It's must be really a challenge to fit the resulting image into 64KB.

Wooaah thanks for posting all these, Dannae! Half of them where new to me. Awesome work! It's amazing how much can be done with only 200 single lines or bezier curves.

Thank all of you again who've left encouraging comments!

Illysia, Thank you... and I'm so surprised you didn't see the cards back when you played.

Also, thank you guys for explaining what that other texturing and UV stuff is. Don't know if I'll ever try it, but maybe if it can be fun or interesting to make a character or something.

As for the fan art project, I might be willing to do something for that if I have the time, but I prefer drawing PS art from things that have inspired me through RP, and the more time I spend drawing, the less time I have to play after my work is done. The drawings take time too, and not just a few hours. Well, maybe for the map art, but not painting. I can easily spend 20 hours on the more involved works. And I've still not gotten around to making Dannae's self portrait, although that is her in the first picture of the thread.
