unplayable slowness

finally got this to worked to see another problem:  big time slowness: about 10 second freezes between each action, sometimes concluding with a permanent freeze that crashes the game


i have a 1.2ghz celeron
xp home
32mb vid card
128 ram

Well does it seem like graphics/system lag or a connection lag?

1. Update your video card drivers to the newest ones available (that is xp compatible)

2. Update your sound card drivers

3. Update to the newest version of DirectX (if already newest then reinstall it)

4. Make sure you have all virus checking programs and other tasks disabled or closed while running the game

5. Reinstall PlaneShift

The basics, always perform these steps first and foremost.

I included number five because well frankly it isn\'t that hard installign it, you should be able to do so with ease and it may prove useful.

What resolution do you have it on, can you see other people move, can you chat at all, do you have anything in the background running?

I have the same problem with slowness. The thing that I find extremely weird, is the fact that it runs faster in 1024x768 than it does in 640x480...? I guess that\'s good....except for the fact that it shouldn\'t be that way. lol It still runs pretty slowly in 1024x768 so I\'m hoping that the performance will increase the farther the game gets into developement. (640x480 should definitely run faster than 1024x768 )

Anyway, it looks VERY promising, so I would like to congratulate the dev\'s for coming up with a very unique and fun looking game. =D

I have the same thing, the higher res seems to run faster, quite unusual =)

Yep, I run it at 32 bit fullscreen and that seems to be the fastest. I would gladly give up some of the color depth and resolution for faster gameplay though, so thats why I\'m hoping that there are some future changes to remedy that. I can just imagine how much slower it will be when it gets really popular and there are hundreds of other players in the world as well.

I have the same problem. But the mine is so stuck that I cannot play. One thing: This only happens with my first character: Michiko. I created one more called Esgaroth to have a test and... It worked perfectly!

I was playing with Michiko when suddenly the game got slowdown. 1 Frame every 10 seconds...

There is no way.... I logged out, Rebooted, Reinstalled, Re-Everything, but it only happens to me with that caracter, and it pisses me off because I was joint to a guild, had many gems, and so...

If you can reset my player to the spawn position, i would be thankful... Do you know my data:

Seriously. Is everything in this world working to destroy me? I have a plenty fast enough computer but I seriously sit there for half an hour waiting for the game to start. After waiting, I move 2 steps (which takes 10 minutes) and the game freezes. Windows task manager says the program isn\'t responding, and I go back to screaming at my monitor and punching myself in the mouth.
If there is any way to help, I\'d be very grateful.
