Ok, thanks.  I\'ll reword the question then, why *will* PS be better than the rest?

First of all PS has a good structure.  It\'s roleplay oriented, \"skill based and no leveling up.\"  It\'s original, original races, places, that sort of thing.

Second it\'s completely free and always will be.

Heh...good that it is free.
Most free games arent that good (NOT implying that PS sucks), but PS looks like one of the good ones. I havnt played it yet though.

thigs that i can think of why PS is great:
- it\'s free
- it\'s opensourced and GPL\'d (a real benefit for other developers and users of \"alternative\" OSs)
- it\'s very comunity-based
- it\'s still evolving and probably will be evolving on and on and on ad infinitum
- it has great, nice, helpful, really into RP-ing players (let\'s hope it stays that way)
- the idea itself is unique (living in an enourmeus stalactite, the azure sun, not (only) the cliche races, depends on skills rather then on levels, ...)
- it looks awesome! ...come to think that it\'s still pre-alpha
- there are more reasons, but ATM i have to little time to think about them

i don\'t know, some spoiled players minght not like it, but i enjoy playing it already as it is :]

I\'ve been looking around, and it looks like, as long as people stick with it long enough it will become really great. :-)

Are there any places i can download it in smaller chuncks?  The 20Meg bits are on the limit of what i can trust my ISP not to throw my off half way through. (i did try to dl it, and got chucked off twice, i gave up)

Why don\'t you use a download manager like Stardownloader so you can resume your download if it is interrupted.
sig removed, it was kinda big ^^

I was planning to get something like that, it would just involve effort, and i try to avoid that as much as possible.  I\'m currently planning to persuade a friend who\'s already downloaded it to burn it to CD for me... much easier.

Thanks for the link thought! :-)

Well, I only created 1 char and connected once. But already, I can see some good points.
Its free AND in 3d ! And the graphics aint too bad. I tried one or the other free RPGs around, and it always ended up like a Zelda from the old 8bit NES, looking crappy with ugly colors. I dont have a GF4 to play like im using a gameboy.
So, I\'d say, if PS stays free, and grows, it will be cool. The question I ask myself : how can they keep it free ? How soon before we see a coke ad in the local tavern ? ;) (placed ads wouldnt bother me too much, tho...its better than pop ups or having to pay monthly).

Also, how can we help growing PS ? Can we send like scenarios for quests ? Or help in any way (I\'m no comp geek, dont ask me to code an engine or to use a level editor only a guy with a doctorate in engineering can comprehend, but i\'d like to help) ?

On the official page, there is a list on what they need.
Also, spread the word about PS, on CS, forums, friends, school, whatever. Just let people know its out there. Advertise your ass of ;).

That is what i call agressive marketing strategy. You have a lot of talent for this kinda stuff Caldazar. Lol, no seriously, that\'s exactly what I\'m always doing with my friends. I post screens of PS on our homework forum (handy little thingie BTW, you should try that one yourself, saves more than half of your time), and now they all start asking when the game is going to be released, wether it\'s REALLY free, and all the wrong questions. But at least, we got their attention...

well, since making PS is more of a hobby to the devs then a job (PS is NOT their job) i think there won\'t be need to actually do anything to prevent it from having ads in it or it becoming commercial (there are also other reasons that i won\'t post, becuase they were discussed over and over)

OFF-TOPIC

Perhaps the crew should open a paypal account. It doesnt take that much effort. And if everybody donated, perhaps 5 $, we could a faster server or whatever thats needed.
