Email not working?
« on: June 12, 2003, 10:49:06 pm »
Well when I try to email info@planeshift.it I get the following message

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

      Subject: Volunteer
      Sent:    12/06/2003 21:42

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

      \'info@planeshift.it\' on 12/06/2003 21:42
550 5.7.1 ... Relaying denied. IP name lookup failed [xxx.xx.xxx.xx]

Which I obviously don\'t like BTW the x\'s are my IP so not giving that away in a hurry LOL

Anyhow, I wanted to email you anyway to ask about volunteer work, so because I can\'t email you I\'ll post it in the forums..........but please if your not admin don\'t reply to it, you\'ll only upset me!

:P

To Planeshift Team,

Here are all the details, hopefully which are requested by you if I would like to become part of you project.

My Details

Full Name: Jamie Salmon

Email: odenniov@warcry.net, webmaster@thechosenelite.com, halodevotee@hotmail.com

Age: 16

Country: United Kingdom

City and State: don?t really apply but it would be Wellington and Somerset

I want to help out anyway I can, I feel that I could help you as a Public Relation Department: RECRUITER Member because I have an extensive knowledge of a long list of gaming sites, and I have had experience in that sort of area before, I did some PR for CyberWarrior by promoting their game in the UK with leaflets and promotional rubies (made of cardboard though), I can send you some pictures of them if you would like.

MMORPG game wise I consider myself to be quite the connoisseur having played probably verging 30 but more in the region of mid 20?s, a lot of these include betas and alphas, and small list of the better known games would be;

?          Rubies of Eventide,

?          Anarchy Online,

?          Everquest,

?          Fung Wan Online,

?          Project Entropia,

?          Freeworld,

?          Dark Age of Camelot,

?          A Tale in the Desert,

Although this list is set to expand even more as I have put down to be on the Beta?s for Ryzom, Dark and Light, Dragon Empires, City of Heroes, The Matrix Online and Lords of Everquest amongst many others.

I spend a lot of time online as I am just finishing my last week of exams which means I will have about a 3 month period in which I will do minimal work, (evenings and weekends) and won?t be in school.

www.mmorpg.net

http://lagmonster.com

http://rpgfan.com/

http://www.rpgplanet.com/

http://www.mmorpg-gamer.com/

Those are a few sites you could use to promote the game. They are widely read and quite popular.

I?m sorry to say that although you ask for a place to look for new developers for any of the departments this will be quite hard as you are asking for volunteers rather than hiring people, this means that there are not many places to advertise, however what you could do is make that element of the game known when you publicise it on the other sites.

I?ve never really got in to Tabletop RPG?s however I do have knowledge about them as I did quite a lot of research into after someone I know told me they were GMing 6 high level tables at something called ?Living Greyhawk? at a large convention in the UK.

I would also like to do work as a Setting Department: BACKGROUND/SETTING Member as I am quite proficient with my writing skills, being fresh out of my first stage of education. I attained high grades for my coursework in English however the only fiction piece I would have to offer is on a science fiction theme, I am however extremely interested in Medieval history and mythology and I feel quite confident in saying that I would be able to produce some material for this game.

I find the idea of writing NPC dialogue and scripting quests quite an exciting prospect and feel that this would be less like work and a lot more like fun, I have often thought of various ideas for quests etc that I would like to be introduced to games and this would be an excellent opportunity for me to vent those ideas.

Thank you for taking the time to read my ?resume? of sorts and I hope to get a response from you soon, good luck with the game as it is already of an extremely high standard!

Yours,

Jamie Salmon

If you want to contact me then please email me, and if that doesn\'t work I will begin checking these boards regularly anyway.

...........ummm I would have liked a reply? Even if it was from a Dev saying that he didn\'t want my help, just so I know whether to keep checking the boards or not?

aaaawww, why will nobody reply, I would like to know if I am able to help out with this game or not as I would like to a lot, I guess the title of my post might deter some people as it sounds like an unrelated Noob post trying to get help, however I will continue to bump this thread until I get a reply, which I\'m sure will be soon, even if it is to say \"bugger off\"

Im not sure if Im supposed ot post here, but I felt sorry for you since no one replied...
I have heard that there are people who have been waiting for six months to reply, the devs are very busy, with real life job family etc.
Browsing the forums when I\'m bored, nothing more.

Talad is the one who handles new applications.  This is why no other dev has responded.  It isn\'t that you are or are not qualified... it is that WE are unqualified to respond to you. :-)

Good luck,
Venge
