Emaline (GM Team)
Zweith (Art)

Uadjet says: Hello and welcome to the Developer Q&A, also known as "Meet the Devs". Here the Dev team can reveal little tidbits of what they're doing to keep our appetites whetted and players can ask any questions they might have.
Rykia says: Hi Uadjet
Dutewe says: hi everybody
Chaon says: Hello all
>Rykia Mewmeat waves at Silak Holear
Uadjet says: Hi!
Stalfos says: Greetings
Uadjet says: If you have any questions, please line up at the podium.
>Damola Etedi bows to Gonger Xaraha.
Silak says: Silak Waves back
Stalfos says: Are there any plans to add blur/red way rings like the other ways have?
Mordaan says: No immediate plans that I know of.
Dutewe says: hi
Mordaan says: Though, if jewelry making is expanded at some point, perhaps with a magic element, it might make sense to include those.
Stalfos says: That would be nice
Uadjet says: I think the items are easily enough to make, as long as there's art and a quest to go with the item.
Uadjet says: If we're talking about the same thing.
Stalfos says: Yes
Dutewe says: hi
Uadjet says: Hi!
Dutewe says: may i prpose a new idea
Dutewe says: i propose to get some post office
Dutewe says: like if you are not in the game you can let some message
Mordaan says: We had talked in the past about some sort of messaging system.
Dutewe says: and the GM can have a view about the message to avoid any misunderstand
Mordaan says: I think it was even a prospect assigment at some point. But nothing ever came of it.
Dutewe says: imagine you are not here and i want to send to you a message
Dutewe says: you can read it like a petition
Dutewe says: i have anothe idea
Uadjet says: It would be nice, as long as it's done IC. Like an actual post box that is visited, or a version based on settings-appropriate magic or groffels.
Beadeater does not like being used as a courier
Mordaan says: It's like any feature. It can be available as long as someone puts in the work and develops it.
Mordaan says: And of course it's done well enough.
Dutewe says: or write a bookas message
Dutewe says: bur only one person can read it
Dutewe says: dedicated personne
Chaon says: It's a good idea for retention and engagement
Uadjet says: Maybe the origami bird messengers I had Levrus use.
Dutewe says: may i propose another idea
Mordaan says: Sure.
Dutewe says: when you read the book of blade
Dutewe says: it is impossible to understand the process a to Z
Stalfos says: Crafting books could be made more concise
Dutewe says: i prpose to make some book with the logic or the methode to assembly or made one blade
Dutewe says: 86 page
Chaon says: How hard would it be to revise the text?
Mordaan says: we'd probably have to revise the whole crafting system.
Dutewe says: the newcommer don't understand how to read it
Stalfos says: I think if it was Hammer 1 ingot for knife, 2 for dagger etc. then heat * alpha blade rather than separate headings for knife dagger shortsword etc
Mordaan says: Which, might be looked into anyway in UE.
Mordaan says: does the /study command help any?
Stalfos says: yes, very useful
Dutewe says: and the choice on different language like library
Dutewe says: so you award the right to do it
Gonger says: Without /study it would be close to impossible to use this book.
Chaon says: Even with study you need help sometimes
Dutewe says: like me
Dutewe says: different level different book
Mordaan says: it's the downside of a "one for all" system which populates those books. It might work perfectly well for recipes but not for other types of crafting.
Gonger says: I remember there have been several times discussions about improving crafting, everybody agreed it is necessary, but there was nobody to put the needed time into this project.
Uadjet says: There are player-made books that explain things quite well. I wonder if crafting books can be given Introductions that explain how to navigate that particular book and what the general steps are.
Mordaan says: Yeah, we even had the start of a UI for crafting.
Dutewe says: yes but planeshift must be more attractive for the crafter
Rykia says: Could the /craft command simply be included so players don't need to type it?
Stalfos says: With book of blades it is the same process for the most part, yet repeated headings. just one generic heading for alpha, beta blades etc
Uadjet says: Yeah
Dutewe says: but when your english it is easy
Mordaan says: yes, a better defined hierarchy
Dutewe says: start by knife how to
Dutewe says: dagger how to
Dutewe says: etc...
Dutewe says: level by level
Rykia says: oops... meant /study
Stalfos says: order needs changing too, like with alchemy, gold and silver solutions first, as they are required for the final stages
Dutewe says: and when the character reach the skill the book change
Uadjet says: Oh, so a study button on the crafting book interface itself?
Damola just learned about the study command "Did not know it before."
Stalfos says: maybe an option to /study when you right click book
Dutewe says: myself i use some commande line
Dutewe says: to reduce the time like take heated ingot in the lefthand and use the hammer on anvil
Dutewe says: 1 click 4 action
Rykia says: Anything to make it easier for everyone, Uadjet.
Gonger says: Maybe the macros could be improved, with more examples for item names and such.
Gonger says: I never got very far with macros...
Mordaan says: Yes, there's lots of things about crafting that are better than at first, but can be improved still.
Dutewe says: the goal today is to simplified how to use everything for crafting
Gonger says: But maybe that is only me, I mean the macro language cannot be worse than Visual Basic... :-)))
Chaon says: lol, how you running macros in the clint Gonger?
Dutewe says: planeshift can be more ease for newcomer
Gonger says: Clint?
Stalfos says: Eastwood
Chaon says: *Client
Uadjet says: Macros are just complex shortcuts that accomplish more than one task.
Gonger says: I don't get your question, Chaon.
Uadjet says: I've had some stupidly long ones as a GM, and as a player I think I had up to 6 or 8 commands in a few.
Chaon says: the shortcut keys. Not truly macros but close
Chaon says: no iterations
Dutewe says: yes but for the forge we cannot
Uadjet says: You can use commands like /target, /use, /combine, /takeall, /dequip, /equip, etc.
Uadjet says: You can't load items into a container with a shortcut, but you can do most of the other stuff.
Dutewe says: but you cannot put item
Dutewe says: only with the mouse
Chaon says: I really like that part of the interface
Dutewe says: you cannot open the inventory
Gonger says: Right. Some things cannot be done with macros, I understand now what you mean.
Gonger says: But many of the preparation moves can be macro'ed.
Dutewe says: exemple if you put 10 blade sametime as a pack of 10
Dutewe says: the experience is only for the pack not fot the 10
Uadjet says: You can't open containers (I think) but you can open windows with /show
Dutewe says: i will try
Dutewe says: even show you cannot put or drop in the cell of the inventory
Dutewe says: only by mouse
Mordaan says: I'm sure crafting will get looked at once we get settled in UE.
Gonger says: There are many unclear things about macros. So even a better documentation would be useful, without enlarging the macro language.
Dutewe says: yes
Dutewe says: i'm agree
Dutewe says: the newcomer must to do by themself
Dutewe says: at the begining
Dutewe says: it will be good
Uadjet says: If you go to the pswiki and look for ingame help there's a huge section on commands. Very useful.
Dutewe says: i will read and try
Dutewe says: i will feedback to you my experience
Dutewe says: thank you
Gonger says: Greetings. There has been no coding live stream for about one month. Do you have any news from Talad?
Uadjet says: He's been travelling.
Stalfos says: To Bronze doors?
Zweitholou says: More like across the dome by Pterosaur :)
Zweitholou says: I can give an art update for ue4 though
Uadjet says: He actually just posted to Discord that he had just landed and couldn't make the meeting.
Gonger says: What, he went for a holiday? :)
Stalfos says: Good point, when can we fly our own pterosaurs, and drop pianos on Chaon
Mordaan says: Like everyone, he devs in his free time, which varies.
Gonger says: Of course. And nobody wants him to catch a burnout.
Gonger says: Thanks.
Stalfos says: Art update would be nice
Mordaan says: 20+ years and he's still doing as much as he is. Impressive. :)
Zweitholou says: I've been working on concept art for the surrounding environments, now that the world will be open with background loading
Zweitholou says: Also, I've been modeling the landscape between areas, including between amdeneir and hydlaa
Stalfos says: Ooh
Zweitholou says: I'm working on bringing the magic shop, ojaveda, and the orads to oja into ue4
Mordaan says: oh, nice
Uadjet says: Wow. That's the full width of the Dome level. Is that still 10km?
Zweitholou says: and I'm almost done bringing in about 100 plants and trees that are optimized for ue4 and free to use
Damola says: cool, nice, Zweitholou. Especially connecting Amdeneir and Hydlaa
Mordaan says: :O
Uadjet says: I mean the ledge. The dome is...50km from side to side.
Gonger says: Sounds awesome. Thanks a lot for this.
Chaon says: Great, Z
Zweitholou says: hopefully this will mean we'll be well setup to keep adding new content after the first ue4 release
Chaon says: New levels?
Zweitholou says: as we don't want to add tons of empty areas, but release them as they are filled with content
Zweitholou says: the dome level is HUGE, new levels probably won't be a thing for a while
Stalfos says: Lower fields needed so I can go home
Chaon says: How much bigger % wise?
Carahaij says: well, its nice excuse to say ICly "i've been in lower le
Carahaij says: vels"
Mordaan says: From the map I know of, there's sooo much area between Hydlaa and Amdeneir. A few villages, a massive forest, a lake. Now, not all of that *needs* to be implemented...it's ultimately just a suggestion.
Chaon says: Wow
Mordaan says: But *if* we keep to that design, there's a lot of possibilities.
Zweitholou says: I've been trying to tie all the pieces together but the main focus right now is porting what we already have of course
Uadjet says: Iirc, the Dome is a ring that's 10km wide with a 50 km diameter. The Crystal is 10 km up, though I don't know if that's the height of the Dome itself or if it hangs down a significant distance.
Mordaan says: Right, picture a DVD.
Stalfos says: Discworld!?
Chaon says: lol
Mordaan says: Hydlaa, Ojaveda, Gugrontid, and the Bronze Doors are all in one sector (of 8).
Zweitholou says: the main website has a picture of the layout of yliakum under settings i believe
Carahaij says: 50km diameter is quite smal tho
Zweitholou says: oja is actually in the next sector over, but just on the edge of it
Uadjet says: The Eagle Bronze Doors. There are others, of course.
Chaon says: All the art is in made in blender right?
Mordaan says: ah yes, quite right, Zweitholou
Mordaan says: yep, 7 bronze doors in all.
Stalfos says: 1 for each day of the week... do we have weeks here
>Dutewe Dutine kneels on the floor to beg!
Mordaan says: So, you see, there's so much yet to add, even before considering other levels.
Mordaan says: And with so few active players, it doesn't make sense to expand all that much because it will be so much empty space.
Uadjet says: Yeah, the Eagle is pretty much strait across the ledge from Hydlaa, so a 10 km distance.
Uadjet says: And the Dome is varied enough that every race can have a nice place of their own. There is a forest not too far from Gug, actually.
Mordaan says: BUT, who knows how things will progress once we get into UE4. It could go quickly. *shrug*
Zweitholou says: Chaon, from here on out we're trying to focus on using blender as the standard, yes
Chaon says: that's what I thought but I wanted to be sure
Uadjet says: We've got forests, lakes, deserts. Biranmia and Yorsu look like they might be in a rain forest, with all those rivers and stalagmites.
Chaon says: Same mobs for now right?
Zweitholou says: Getting some updates from Talad: he's focusing on combat and making movement smooth for both npc and players
Zweitholou says: I'll be helping improve the animations as part of that effort
Mordaan says: Hah, no more 90 degree turns for NPCs? :D
Rykia says: xD
Uadjet says: Any other questions?
Mordaan says: eh, now that I look at it, Amdeneir isn't too much further from Hydlaa than Ojaveda is.
Mordaan says: Maybe I've been exaggerating all this time. :P
Dutewe says: when we plan a big video on youtube during event
Stalfos says: Pterosaur travel puts it just past Gugrontig
Uadjet says: It was moved.
Stalfos says: Ahh
Uadjet says: I've been calling it the wandering city.
Mordaan says: Then again, hard to say how close to scale that map is.
Stalfos says: A floating city?
Dutewe says: when we plan a big video on youtube during event
Dutewe says: to promote PS
Mordaan says: Yeah, the pterosaur map was just using what we had. Not quite accurate.
Uadjet says: I like the location Amdeneir is in now. Being so close to the edge of the Dome gives the city stalactites that are low enough to use.
Uadjet says: I'm picturing Klyros manning ballistas up there.
Dutewe says: quick question
Uadjet says: Well, we're a little past the hour so if nobody has any more questions I think we can....Yes?
Uadjet says: Your question?
Dutewe says: when the ryvnak can be able to carry something
Dutewe says: like crate or other
Rykia says: I like that idea
Damola says: Nice idea.
Dutewe says: today it thing only to eat
Mordaan says: a rivnak and carriage? :)
Dutewe says: use the ryvnak to transport some golg ore or iron
Dutewe says: gold
Uadjet says: Heh, could add saddlebags rigging to pull a small cart.
Mordaan says: we already have caravans IC, but not with game mechanics.
Stalfos says: We need jousting too, while you're at it
Mordaan says: all feature requests. Some day.. :)
Dutewe says: and when we can feed the pets
Dutewe says: feed=empathy
Dutewe says: before my griffonoir was able to attack the kiriki
Dutewe says: now is leasy
Dutewe says: why? he refuse to do something
Stalfos says: Thank you devs, good night
Uadjet says: Pet's a tricky. Sometimes they'll join in an attack and sometimes they won't.
Uadjet says: I can test again on a dummy, but if your pet doesn't attack, try dismissing it and summoning it again.
Dutewe says: ok
Damola says: Goodnight.
Dutewe says: another quick question
Dutewe says: when we summon the pet
Dutewe says: the pet is on the midle of me
Dutewe says: can we change the position when is summon
Uadjet says: I don't know how tricky that would be.
Uadjet says: Perhaps it could be placed like items after using the /drop command, as those appear just in front of you.
Dutewe says: yes
Dutewe says: front face to face
>Uadjet picked up a Small Chair
Carahaij says: yawn
Uadjet says: Well, we're a little past the hour so if nobody has any more questions I think we can bring the meeting to a close.
Dutewe says: lgood night
Mordaan says: Thanks for attending!
Damola says: Thanks
Dutewe says: you are welcom
Damola says: Have a nice time.
Carahaij says: thanks and night
Dutewe says: yes
Dutewe says: see you soon
Dieb says: Night
