I think the webpage idea is also a good one.  We do need some solution and that lets the players self-select which accounts to move.

I\'m with you there; in fact, I\'d rather have everything deleted if it would make it easier on the devs.  Even if weapons were preserved, I\'d like the option to opt out of the reward, so I could earn a weapon on my own (not like I have one, anyway:( .)

Nil\'s idea is pretty good, fair for the oldbies and the newbies. That is, as long is the reward isn\'t too high (not 1:1 conversion).  I know some of you guys don\'t like the newbs so much, but I don\'t think we should discriminate them to the point some have suggested.

I don\'t feel rewarding those who have played for a long time is discriminating against new players. As Wedge noted, they have the chance to come play now, unless they cannot get it to run.

Chances are that someone in Molecular Blue (me & others) would teach them the ropes and guide them around a bit. Chances are the experienced players will continue to help new people in Crystal Blue too. In fact, any bonus would just get us up to speed more quickly, and then we can help others get up to speed too. It puts us in a position to be able to better serve others.

Some people may use this against new players. I doubt Explorers would. I doubt Feline\'s Lair would. I\'m fairly sure it\'s against Mirth\'s beliefs. I doubt Defenders would - in fact, they\'d probably be defending new players from mobs and even experienced players who are now out to kill people. Just a guess. I\'ve heard from several Assassins that they will defend people too. So are we really all out to get the new players? It doesn\'t sound like it to me.

Chances are many of the more serious new players will join guilds, and these guilds will help them grow and bring them up to speed. Isn\'t that what guilds do? Guild members help other guild members. The community at large helps people.

As someone who\'s answered newbie questions for two months now, and was given the honorary title of \"Moogie\'s Assistant\" after one week, I\'ve noted a few things: Some new players are extremely polite and want to learn how to play. It is a pleasure to help them, and many people do. I teach them on their first day what took me a week to learn, and tell them of things they\'ll be able to do with practice - some of which I only learned a few days ago! These people learn quickly.

Others are not so polite and scream in all caps for an hour and make obscene threats against us. These people will likely be helped less and therefore will be at a disadvantage, or may be taken out by someone. Sorry to be blunt, but that\'s not our problem. ;-)

A final note. Grakrim - Naturally you wouldn\'t have to keep anything unless you want to. If we have a webpage, you can simply not get a bonus. Even if there is no way to opt-out of anything, you could always distribute your wealth among 15 new players.

Are we the only guild who would be out to get everyone new? *sigh* How boring.

Lolz ;)

Well, I\'m in doubt... I\'ll soon get a new computer and will be able to play...
But I\'m not sure how I\'ll play. In every game (and IRL), I always try to help people... But maybe this time, I\'ll just be a vicious slaughterer.
Let\'s just hope everyone realises that that is an IC role

Nilaya is such a genius, I mean she\'s right, who would want to go around killing newbies --(which I think pvp should\'nt give you experience which solves the problem of massacres)--when you can look cool and defend newcommers and be nice to people, I think that if most people make a promise not to take advantage of our obviously hard-earned \"bonuses\" for the purpose of slaughter --(which I may say is what most of the 2000+ crystal bearers hate the most,...cough, diablo,..cough)-- then we can maybe make a moral code that will protect these new players, we all help newbies anyways, we were them ourselves, it\'s not like we\'re a parent talking to our childs, we were newbies (most of us) less than 4 months ago, our memory isn\'t that bad? I don\'t think it\'s too much to ask (please forgive my arrogence oh mighty Dev god) to have a \"little\" bonus for sticking around (and throwing away our other social-life sucking hobbies) .

Well, I like to thank all you devs for us being able to influence the game like this.

P.S. Nilaya is cool!

Wow, no reason to argue!
See, this is what could be caused by these \'rewards\'.
People getting jealous  X(

Also: I don\'t think anyone should go out and slaughter newbies, and there should certainly be some kind of protection (like PvP lvl limit) against that! We don\'t want to scare new players away now, do we?

I certainly wouldn\'t worry about people going around and PKing, mainly because PK isn\'t going to exist in the next version!  There likely will be consensual PvP and/or an arena, but there will be no sort of free PKing until a proper system for controlling it is set up, and that will not be in Crystal Blue.

Hey i didn\'t want to argue, i just found it weird that  a guy regitered in sept. 2003 would be talking like that and refering to newbies like he wasn\'t a newb himself

And i am not jaleous of other people getting rewards from the devs for their dedication cuz i know a lot of players have put a lot into this game and the comunity and those players should be rewarded somehow

No point in saving accounts, I mean it doesn\'t really matter, this isn\'t the full game, so it doesn\'t really what\'s saved or not because things change as it gets closer and closer to being not finished by \"commercially released.\" I used commercially for lack of a better term.

Heh the Cabal...I can see the guilds teaming up together against them but it would be cool.

The War of the Cabal against the Guilds Federation Alliance. Which is Cabal vs. all the other guilds.

Heh I\'m sure the way the Cabals act, they\'d put up one hell of a fight.

Well, just because somebody is new to the boards doesn\'t mean they\'re new to the game. ;)

There\'s no reason not to do this.  There is no transfer of the old data to the game, just reading it and translating the value of an old account to the new game.  Which if you played the old version is totally fair.
