Running PlaneShift on a Windows System.
« on: June 30, 2003, 09:27:06 am »
I have a problem running PlaneShift. I can get the game going and everything but I experience very slow loading times (i.e. It takes almost 15 min to enter the game world). I get slow but playable framerates. I was wondering If the game or the 3d engine itself has some sort of memory leak. Something that is not being cleaned up. I notice the game eats my RAM like nothing I\'ve ever seen. I hope that the programmers check into this problem because I\'m sure it\'s not my machine... I just built it recently and it runs other high-quality games and programs wonderfully. I understand this is just a beta, but that is the point of this forum, right? To help the development of PlaneShift. So far PlaneShift is pretty neat. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I am running Windows XP Pro:
Other specs are classified information because It\'s a prototype model I\'m designing for my business. I know it don\'t make a lotta sense. :)

Everybody has slow framerates. And yes, it really eats your RAM up ;). The game being slow to load should be a one time experience, it takes some time to load it the first time. Oh, and the code is \"dirty\", meaning that there are a lot of things that shouldnt be there, it will be better later on. :)
