Xalthar,
I don\'t have much experience with online game for role playing game much, my only other experience with gaming is DAoC. So I don\'t know how it work with other game.
But I would hope narrow down to key words and not phrase (if phrase is what PS NPC looking at). Last night I got to start to chat with NPC in game and didn\'t get far. Just Hi, Hello, How are you? anything i said they don\'t get it :(
Will try again next week, have a nice weekend everyone. (since i could not play in the weekend :(

Well, I agree with you, but the npc\'s (so far) don\'t react to very much, but I seriously hope they change the system since it is hard to use for those who aren\'t good at english.

I completed the second quest rather quickly, but I had to spend most of the time guessing EXACTLY what to say.. You could type in a word too much and it would accept it, but if that word was in the middle of the sentence you write, the npc will not accept it.
I don\'t like that, but I guess it\'s hard to change, so I\'m 100% for a new system!

I hate hyperlink interfaces, they make the game too easy, and it compensates by making you spend more time running across town and finding obscure items.

The current interface can definitely be improved, but the npcs need to have some kind of AI so they know what you\'re trying to say no matter how you say it. The developers need to do some research into how people normally ask questions and give npcs a list of phrases to recognise. What I really want to see is slang :P

P.S. I think it\'s acraig doing the chat thingy, but i\'m not sure.

I LOVE hyperlink interfaces compared to the current PS system.. And if you make the npc\'s recognize easy sentences, the system could be exploited in countless ways, and perhaps even make it harder for people who aren\'t good at english grammar...!! So as I\'ve said countless times before, I am against the current system, and for a \"hyperlink\" interface. But that\'s only my oppinion, and since there aren\'t many supporters in here I\'m guessing people with bad grammar will suffer because of it...

There would have to be a way of stopping people finding out what to say form people who\'ve already finished the quest, because that already happens. But otherwise, I think it is far more satisfying to find information for yourself than to be spoonfed conversation topics.

Of course.. Yes, I like finding out the info and conversation topics for myself. No fun in getting it all from others, but there are still some that are having a hard time, and I\'ve talked to quite a few ingame... Ones whom I wouldn\'t exactly call \"Stupid\" :P

At the moment the interface sucks, but the idea is good. I can\'t finish the second quest, because it\'s impossible to figure out what to say and how to say it.

Yes and that\'s exactly why it sucks, one can\'t figure out what to say...  This interface sucks, but I\'m willing to accept it (at present) and see how it turns out later on...

Be strong, Xalthar. The mighty PS gods will surely be improving it by the next release *hint hint*. Because I know where they park *slightly less subtle hint hint*.

there is a pretty major problem with slang and making the computer recognize statements that are \'slightly off the mark\'.  I\'m going to explain this graphically:  Imagine you have a list of all the statementas in the game.  You then cut out a circle for each statement and hook them onto a large board.  The area of the board that can still be seen is room for improvement and statements that people want to use but that the computer doesn\'t recognize... so the obvious thing to do is to enlarge the circles by programming in allthe ways to say different statements... now that we have bigger circles they have begun to overlap and the computer is damn confused... also since the shapes are circles there are still blank spots here and there where new phrases need to be added, but the computer is already confused since there are so many overlapping circles (statements)...

I hate the current system - no one wants to play a guessing game.  Quests don\'t have to be like this.

well this s exactly why .... the quest logic, everybody knows what it is, but it is only syntax - therefore boring - problemns that stops player form finishing ; i\'m french and to find tha tfinal phrase was simply mad !!
