Forum Newsletter?
« on: August 11, 2003, 11:32:02 pm »
There are a lot of very informative and serious discussions that go on in the Planeshift forums everyday and I think it would be very useful if someone could step forward and gather useful links to forum posts. Currently I\'ve got this extremely short list of 3 links on the planeshift.fragnetics.com website... But a lot of very interesting discussion goes on and more could be done to produce some kind of weekly newsletter on the discussions between the players and developers.

You\'d notice that the PlaneShift website appears reasonably stagnant (well that\'s my impression anyway) but I think there is a place for a site that gets updated on a more frequent basis so that people can read really useful forum posts or discussions but not need to visit the forums on a daily basis.

I think that such a newsletter could be hosted on the Fragnetics Planeshift site or on another independent location. This is a void that I think could be filled up, and I won\'t mind hyperlinking to such a site if such a volunteer doesn\'t want to put it on our server pages.

hehe, the newsletter would probably say something like \"And Drilixer responds again\"... on every page... no just joking :P

Why don\'t you set it up then?  Get a webpage and start making links to all the \'relevant\' discussions (heh good luck finding many of those besides Moogie\'s Newbie Help Thread and the one in my signature ;) )

As for the Planeshift site being \'stagnant\'.  I\'m afraid I agree, but there is a reason for that.  The devs are working on the game\'s systems and they can\'t update the site with information until they are certain as to how something is going to work - or at least the best possible solution at the time.  Plus if you wnat more up to date information go on the IRC channels or go sourceforge.net.

I might just take this up some time... I\'ll see how it goes.

It sounds like quite a time-consuming task, but if done correctly, could turn into a hive of information for the whole community. I may not be able to dedicate enough of my attention to a project this big, but I\'ll certainly see what I can do.

Hmm... *looks for a good free host*

Well, I would be glad to help Mogura, if you need any help. :)
Browsing the forums when I\'m bored, nothing more.

make sure that my \'city wishlist\' thread is considered a \'reelevant discussion\'!
