« on: August 17, 2003, 10:24:52 pm »
Hi
I have a gentoo 1.4 and i have decided to test this game
i have seen that there is an ebuild for it.
after merging the game i do the configuration
like in the how-to
export CRYSTAL=/opt/crystal make
export CEL=/opt/crystal make
and then /opt/planeshift/psclient
but i have this error :
csInitializer::SetupConfigManager failed!
Is your CRYSTAL environment var set?

but the crystal environement is set no?
plz help me

From our resident linux build guy in IRC:

\"they need to make sure there user isin the  group \'games\', do NOT export CRYSTAL or CEL, and just run the program by typing planeshift, not /opt/planeshift/psclient\"

there seems to be some glitches with the permissions set by default. Try to run the game as root, if it works \"chown games.games /opt/planeshift -R\" and \"chown games.games /opt/crystal -R\" and try to run it again as normal user.

Same problem here, I should warn u guys that I\'m a total newbie on the aspect of gentoo (just got it 2 days ago)

I don\'t think I\'ve got the CVS one, so the help pages there don\'t really help.

bash-2.05b# ./psclient
no CEL environment variable set!
Warning: Failed to load `vfs\'; use \'-verbose\' argument for details.
Warning: Failed to load `vfs\'; use \'-verbose\' argument for details.
WARNING: could not load plugin \'crystalspace.kernel.vfs\'
Couldn\'t load vfs plugin!
csInitializer::SetupConfigManager failed!
Is your CRYSTAL environment var set?

I haven\'t configured the crystal env yet, nor exported it.
I\'ve put myself in the /etc/group file after games
I\'ve chowned the files, and ./psclient still doesn\'t start the file (still the above)

You don\'t need to type the whole path to the executable, it\'s included in your $PATH, just open an xterm and type planeshift.

Now I have no idea what any of you are talking about, but I think I understand the command quite clearly.

Just run the program by typing planeshift
