Every once in a while, (1-2 months) A random Newbie will be mislead diliberately.  Remember Waterdeep anyone?  But this is casual and no harm is intended.  (Besides, after a while someone tells him it was a joke to see his reaction, which is usually mild.)
The key to manipulative bargaining is to ask for something twice as big as what you want, then smile and nod when you are talked down to your original wish. You are still young, my apprentice, and have much to learn in the ways of the force. -UtM

well ...here\'s my point of view on this matter:
noobie=newbi(e)=newby=noob=newb=n00b=|\\|0o|3=...

only making writing it in \"l337speak\" (or n00bspeak) makes it seem more stupid ...that\'s all.

but the true difference is in the way the word(s) is implied.
nice acconotation example: \"hey, you\'re a noobie, aren\'t you? <^_^>\"
bad acconotation example: \"fsck off you stupid noob!!\"

..see, it\'s all in the way of how you use it :]

...but in most cases in PS if you\'re marked or addressed as a noobie (et simili), it just means that people noticed you\'re new around here ...that\'s all ...most of us are really nice and helpful to noobies ...that\'s how (supprisingly and thankfully) PS works :) ...but you have to take into account that there\'s always a few who aren\'t nice (and usually are noobies themselves :rolleyes:), and that we all are just humans, so we all have bad days sometimes.

welcome to PS though, and enjoy your stay :]

I\'m sure there are other places like this, but I just remember seeing it here.  They\'ve got this in the glossary of the America\'s Army help files:

Newbie - Generally, this is a new player

n00b -  Derogatory slang for a player that does something stupid, often repeatedly, and who may be a new player
Ninjas have feelings too.  Mostly they feel like dancing.

I\'ve yet to run in to anyone who\'s been rude, or disrespectful; everyone has been quite helpful and fairly mature.  However, as a completely free platform, I fully expect that there will be quite a few noobs and griefers around once a more playable version is released.  These doorknobs have nothing invested in the game, and thus, nothing to lose when banned.  I\'m not particularily worried about it, I\'m just mentioning what is probably obvious to most, and that is: be prepared ;)
