*resurrects the thread from the dead

When I look at a band/artist, I look for 3 things:
1. The band/artist MUST play their own instrument(s) .  I have a hard time respecting people that only sing.
2. The band/artist must impress me by playing their instrument.   This weeds out all the musical styles I don\'t like and also bands that are just terrible.
3. If the music has lyrics, the lyrics must NOT uphold a quote by Voltair which goes, \"Anything too stupid to be said is sung.\" I enjoy lyrics that have meaning and make me think.  It makes me less inclined to listen to a particular band if their lyrics give the impression of random gibberish.

That said, my favorite bands are:
Chevelle (favorite hands down, their new cd P@\\/\\/|\\|z)
LP
Subseven (yeah, it\'s not just a trojan :P)
Lifehouse
All American Rejects
Seether
Switchfoot
Thousand Foot Krutch
Three Days Grace
Falling Up (similar to LP)

I also like most classical music.

Favorite songs would be Point #1 by Chevelle and a classical piece entitled \"Let the War Begin,\" made by a guy named Pedro who is doing music for a project I like to follow, can be found here

I really don\'t know any of RUsh but in last year\'s welding tech class kids couldn\'t stop talking crap about them. Even the teacher.
You start with \"Woo Rush! Go Rush, Go Rush! Rush Rush Rush Rush Rush! RUSH!!! \"
they\'d probably stick you with the sharp scrap metal and  mig weld your new face to the back of a truck.
Then drive it around the school field where everyone can see.
