« on: November 17, 2003, 12:29:40 am »
ok i have tried to log on about 5 billion times, and this is what it says:  the server is not online or is not reachable at this time.
or something close to that
i checked the web page and it says that the server is online whenever i try to log on
my internet is connected
my acount is valid

i cant think of anything else that might be wrong
what should i do?

i have read the stickys again and the only thing that has anything to do with this says it does it if you have a firewall, but i dont have any firewalls.

Your Internet provider may be forcing you through a firewall of its own. You can only phone them and ask.

I don\'t claim to be an expert on all this internet wizardry, but it looks to me like it was a DNS thing with your ISP; apparently only temporary, as you\'ve been able to log on before, and can now log on again.  I reckon that it was coincidence that it started working again after the reinstall.

Another strong possibility is that Planeshift or Crystalspace got corrupted, possibly due to virus; very important to regularly scan for viruses, if you don\'t already.

Hi, I\'ve got the exact same problem as Taurenthefirst.  I don\'t have a firewall running, nor does my isp.  I\'ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I\'ve tried updating, I\'ve switched to Windows 98, I\'ve entered the ip address instead of the server name, but I always get the \'server can not be reached\' message.  Any ideas anyone?  Taurenthefirst, if you read this, what exactly did you do?

Thanks alot.

Dallandra, another reason might be that the updater can not connect through a proxy server.   There is a Belgian cable provider that routs all it\'s traffic through a proxy...

Allow UDP traffic from port 13331 on your firewall. That should do the trick.

I\'m not behind a firewall, and I don\'t go through a proxy

Which IP address have you used ? Was it 203.81.47.74 ?

Try the following, type in a command-dos window :

ping 203.81.47.74
This will tell you if there is a route to the server

ping planeshift.fragnetics.com
This will tell you if your DNS is able to find the IP address from the name
