Creation Freeze?

well...I started playing back in the first couple weeks, and i had the same problem, but i got bored of collecting crystals and quit.  Now that ive come back I have the same problem..................

Can someone PLEASE tell me whats wrong?
I try to create my character but when i click upload it freezes.  I put in the IP that it posts on the site, that doesnt work... Ive got the settings on min...I use AOL and i have a firewall, but i turn it off.  I have no othe rprograms running but Aol and Explorer when i try....... I use Win98 SE BTW

Please post some more system specs so we can come up with possible reasons. Some helpful info would be:

Motherboard
Video Card
Ram
Routers(if any)

Example:
AMD Athlon 2000 1.7ghz
GeForce 2 64mb SDR
256mb DDR
Linksys Router

You can get most of these from: Start--->>>Run--->>> dxdiag

dont run the aol program, it can be too demanding to run along side planeshift and not only that likes to hassle any online game players. You can find an alternate dialup program to connect to aol somewhere on the net, have a look.

Im using AoL dsl...its what my parents are using now, we r switching to Roadrunner in a few months.

Pentium 3 1ghz
Radeon 7200
639mb pc133
Lynksys router

Whoa LoL! Hmm guess i found my problem.  I had to reinstall windows a couple of days ago and it reset my DirectX back to 6.1a!  if it doesnt work after i reinstall directx ill post! thanks

Is this from creating a new character? If so you only get one attempt from the moment you start the client. If something goes wrong, or the names already taken, you somtimes have to start the client again from scratch.
Using \'quick create\' minimizes the chances of this.

The same goes if you are using an old character youve created, you have to get the pass right first time or restart the client.

I reinstalled.  still doesntwork.  I have Direct x 9.0 still freezes after i click upload
