Holiday Spirit!

I\'ve never seen a game do this! I was thinking that maybe on certain holidays that special things could happen in the planeshift world! For example: on Christmas we could have it so that at the tavern drinks are half off and weapons are on sell. We could possibly even have a Christmas quest where you have to possibly find lost presents of an orphenage or something! (trying to be original!) Maybe, even, npc\'s can give gifts if you get to them first! (Add to this as you please!)

Well, personaly i think the drinks could be 1/4 or so in price. And NO weapon selling on cristmas.. And maby a big meal in the city hall were you can buy you a place and eat togheter with like 150 other players.. And of course FIREWORKS IS A MUST!

I have already heard of an Halloween quest for RO and a St Valentin quest for FFXI.

But i don\'t think it\'s a good idea. Real life stuff has nothing to do in-game and especially (IMHO) national or religious holydays. This was already discussed in the Thanksgiving thread.

If holydays are done inside PS, they must be original. A \'crystal party\' the 6 October for example.

Maybe we can work with the idea of original ps holidays! For example: Mir da Colosuss (Day of the Ynnwn) where they celebrate the victory of 3 legendary Ynnwn that saved the world from an evil ruler years ago! Then everyone could still get item discounts and stuff but Ynnwn would get better deals than other races! Also, other races can have special days too!

I\'m sure PS players will hold their own celebrations/events. I\'ve certainly got nothing against that. :) But whether the devs organise anything for the game remains to be seen.

I dont see why we cant do special things for christmas and 3 other major religious holidays. Its all about the spirit of the holidays not the important meanings behind them and stuff. that kind of happiness and friendlyness on a holiday people can really relate to is what makes games sometimes.

P.S its not like this is a completely new idea. lots of games do special things on christmas, halloween and thanksgiving. Like R00nscape and everKwest, but those games are successfull and its not shamefull to do something for the holidays too. :)

It\'s just that many of us are looking for the true RP experience, and I feel that it would detract from the world by celebrating religious holidays for religions that don\'t exist within the realm of PS.

Some idea for PS holidays:
1) Religious (for followers of Talad and Laanx)
2) City/town (Hydlaa Founding Day)
3) Quest related (I think at least a couple times each year a really big quest should be put in place, and the party that completes it gets a holiday in their honor)

4) Day of Vengeance (due to a cyclidic nulling of the geomagnetic crystal fields no spells work for twenty-six hours)

Ya having holiday events would be cool, but i agree...lets not mix ps with the real world. But im all for having ps holidays:D
