X(  X(  X(  X(

Hello everyone. I just wanted to ask a few questions of the devs, because I feel that too many things are up in the air about the CB release. Here are a few things I already know and do not wish to discuss:

Battle Systems

Pk/PvP/Theiving/Arena

Crystals being transferred (as I feel I don\'t care at this point, I just want to play CB)

Now here is what I would like to be answered:

When creating a char in CB, will the parameters that are not availiable in the game (such as luck, arm disablement, riding winged creatures, empathy (familiars), climbing, e.t.c) be disabled?

Talking menus, what exactly do you guys have for the chat? Can we possibly have a /s instead of /shout?

What do you guys have planned for lag reduction? I have heard of LOD, and fog, but in terms of user-side lag, can I run CB on a 56k and a decent vid card?, will all these spiffy new models cause new lag in place of the old?

Please feel free to post anything that I forgot to mention, that I have not already asked to leave out.

The whole GUI has been greatly improved for CB and you will no longer have to type /shout every time you want to broadcast a message to everyone on the map. There are buttons instead, so you can choose to be constantly chatting in Talk, Shout, Whisper, Guild etc channels.

Ah, also I was wondering if I could make a suggestion

Could there be someway to keep your username? Wynona helped me think of this:

First, fix the char creation so that after   you create a user and a pass, you get to create your char.

Then, whenever you create a User and Pass you can create your char, or exit and get back to it later.

Now for the clincher:

Have an email box that people can send their current user and pass to, so then a very kind Dev(s) can create the accounts for the persons, simply by creating a new user and pass in MB

Then people can log in to MB with their current user and pass and edit their char, and start the game.

I\'d love to help, since I think this process is horrendesly simple and not much work if split up into a few volunteers or maybe automating it would be nice, but I wouldn\'t know about that.

Stuff that isn\'t implemented will still be in the game, don\'t ask me why, I don\'t like it either.

The lag is currently caused by bugs in the 3d engine, those bugs will (hopefully) be gone in CB as it uses a newer version of crystal space.
I don\'t know about the bandwidth, I don\'t think it will get that much more but there will of course be a lot more people playing so that can cause lag too.

EDIT(answers to the new post):

The character creation has been redone too, maybe this is part of that.

There will be a form available to tranfer your old character to CB, with this you can save your name and guild.

Thank you Axsyrus, that helped a little, and it is less nerve-wracking to know that other people do not like the fact of \"blank skills\"

The fact of the matter is, not only will it piss oldbies off, it will cause alot of lost usernames, and pissed of newbies that will go back to playing \"it shall not be named\"

I would like to see sites give Planeshift a real review if these things aren\'t delat with, but of course, it is is still not an official release , like i haven\'t heard that before, I don\'t see the trouble of disabling a button or six.

That\'s not official last I heard, don\'t see why it wouldn\'t be, but yeah.

The only problem I see with that is if they decide to change something (like with the magic) it may screw up someones character they made based off of those...but I think it works the way they have it in MB, not like you see it too many times.

Yeah, but if you don\'t mind, how is it fair to everyone else? Again, where is the difficulty of disabling a button? ::shrugs::

imho, i really dont care if they leave skills in or take them out, but perhaps disable them(grayed out, ect) just for the vestigial affect?

i didnt point out anything other then most ppl probably wont care and thats prob the only reason WHY they didnt just disable them, but unless their planning on sticking them in quietly and letting u find out when their rdy or not (which is stupid) is maybe another reason but highly doubtful
