Maybe it\'s my traditional art background talking, but I seem to enjoy your sketches more than the finished pieces.  The way they\'re colored feel \"sterile\" to me.  I see line art with colored gradients.  That may be all well and good for you, but it falls short of my expectations after seeing one of your \"rough sketches.\"

Maybe you could increase the amount of light/shadow.  The colored gradients don\'t go deep enough to really bring the pieces out.  The light green cloth on the recent pic looks rather flat.  Not enough darkened spots to make it look like he\'s wearing it.  I also noticed that in that pose, he\'s not casting any shadows on himself.  If you have a strong enough light source to create highlights, you would need to add darker shades to your colors to balance it.  I also agree with Abemore about the pants on that assassin, but I disagree about the \"loopy sash.\"  It adds motion to an otherwise static figure.

Don\'t get me wrong, your art is good (and rather popular! :) ).  You seem prolific in your ability to produce it, something I can no longer do.  Here\'s hoping that you can take your art to the fabled \"next level\", something most artists fall short of.

Wow,

love the critiqe, if I could get more like that I may just get to the aforementioned \"next level\"

you are quite right about the flat feel, when I\'m working in Photoshop it feels like I\'m colouring them into a plastecine like state, I\'m currently looking into ways of applying and distorting textures and/or patterns

and the self applying shadows are Missing, they are something I dont feel confident enough with even on paper as I still need to work on my spacial sense to then get the right feel for where the shadows should go (any methods you know of for building this skill would be greatly apreciated)

I do allso find that digital colouring is a bit... well \"soulless\" but thats probably my unused paint set talking :)

thankyou again Darkmoon for your critique, it is very much apreciated, and I do hope to receive more in future :)

[edit] and whats my next request hmmmmm.....?

I think, this will be hard to draw(its hard to describe, too), but perhaps you want to try:

Its a creature with narrow shape, medium height. The head is between spieder and insectoid.(ie mandibel and facette eyes)
It has three legs and tarms with 120? between each pair of arms and again 120? each pair of legs. The arms are in one horizontal plane and the legs are in a seconde horizontal plane.

Here is also a cool forum where you can look at the work of pros CGTalk

Do not say such things lynx_lupo, even with smiley faces at the end.  :)

Wonderful, amazing works of art Kintall.
I hope that we get some more talented artists in here to critique for you.

The 5 eye\'d gent is not what I had envisioned, but still cool.  My fault for not being specific enough. :)

Speaking of specificity, here\'s a question:
Would you like us to be ultra specific, or would you rather enjoy the freedom given from general requests?

ty ty praise is allways welcome, as for the requests three things:

1) I only do requests with the word please in them, so why dont I practice my art whilr you sharpen up on your manners :) :)
2)less/morespecific doesnt really bother me I either work out my crearivity or my \"work to order\" ability so eithers fine
2) Pristontale is playable again for the Aus and NZ regions so I\'m going to be spendin the half hour or so I normaly spend on this art scene playing pristontale because... well,  it may have as much depth as a kiddy pool and as much story as a van damme movie but its addictive...so.... there I go

:)

[edit] I\'m still doing requests but dont expect same day results :)

Alright, I\'ll do another.

Kintall, if you would be so kind, please indulge us by creating yet another digital work of art.

Here is my request...

Two female warriors.  A Diaboli  and an Elf.  Each wielding a 2-handed sword, now locked in combat.  A fierce but beautiful countenance can be seen on each of their faces.  Their long battle has torn and tattered their clothing exposing much of their well toned bodies.  A scratch here; a cut there.  A pair of thigh-high, high-heel boots wouldn\'t hurt the mix.  Maybe some long luxurious gloves.  Lets get some long beatiful hair in there too.  This should result in a sort of battered elegance that is very appealing.

Thank you Kintall for your consideration. :)

Holy crap, this is the first time i\'ve looked at this thread.  Amazing work.  You\'re a very gifted artist.  And you\'d be even more gifted if you drew an evil elven mage.  Really evil and dark.   :]
