Anyone care to toy with that mathematic usability model idea? I think that has the possibility to reduce it to one or two different stats per item.

Perhaps only quality and damanage: I.e. a sword rusts a bit, it only would be damanaged a bit. This can be easilly be undone by cleaning. But if the sword rust to much the general quality of the sword lowers and that can only be repaired by a blacksmith.

So:
Quality: You need a blacksmith to improve it.
Damanage: Yo can repair it yourself, but if there is to much dmg the quality lowers.

I know you can improve like this the quality of the sword even higher then it was before, but that is not impossible in rl, so I wouldn\'t forbid that.

A properly maintained sword doesnt rust. Maintained means clean it from body fluids before you put it away, regularly polish it with oil.

I agree to a limit on the cool weapon weather affects.  However like was stated earlierl. This will be a free game so there will be alot of people that are using systems that are not the top of the line.   I would hate to exclude them just for the sake of my weapon rusting.  The more the players the better.

But over all a very good post.  Thank you.

I don\'t think weapon rusting takes a lot of your system. It can be easely calculated. Ok if you want special grafical rusting effects, but I don\'t need that.
