Deddarus thats not what im trying to get through. what im trying to say is its fun to cuss and kid around. like just the other day me and my friends found 50 dollars on the ground in front of the atm. it was awesome. we went and celebrated the 50 dollars by going and buying the biggest pizza we could at a great restaurant and we game the lady a 20 dollar tip.

That probally made her day and thats how we spread cheer. But as we were doing this we had lots of fun. we cussed like sailor and flirted around and acted like general assholes. But it was all in that last 20 seconds when i gave her that 20 dollars that her face lit up in relizing that we were really nice people looking to have a good time.

The same goes for bars. I act like an asshole and a drunk sometimes but i make up for it in other ways like doing favors, and when i get out of hand i calm down and appologize to the bartender/ waitress. So really i like being that way online and like having a good time. Just because someone wants to be a tightwad and have RPing and give me constant reminders on my behavior (taking down my fun factor) shouldnt be able to get me banned.

EDIT: made it look purty... :P

\"eg.. IRL if someone is an arse.. u dont like em... u dont invite em along to yer parties... u dont do em any favours..... u may even repeatedly slap em round the head\"

The only problem with that theory, is in RL it is a bit easier to remember who has done what. In a game, where there are only so many different character models, it would be difficult to remember all the names of people who you didn\'t get along with. Not to mention, many of us play this to escape real life, and don\'t want to have to deal with that kind of immaturity. And how do you stop a person in game from coming to an event if they find out where it is? I guess in that case ignore could be used.

Now I\'m not against someone cussing occasionally while they talk, but even then it really detracts from gameplay. Maybe we could make in-game swears, something that has nothing to do with real life. For example, although not a swear, people say Jesus Christ! Well, in game, we could have it where people said Laanx! to the same effect (not a new idea). That way characters could rp AND swear :P

I like this in-game thing, maybe they could also be fined a certain amount or something if caught or have to give up their items if they can\'t pay, something like that...and if they continue to offend may even get banned from that city, I think banning them from the entire game won\'t really have an effect since they\'ll just create a new character. (I do like the mute thing though)

But, of course, this is only if it\'s like in the middle of a city and their shouting it to people, I think that out in the open when people are hunting, it should be more lenient...and if they own an \"area\" (house, etc.) it should totally be up to them.

thats why we should have channels in our chat feautre

General- Say what you want when you want to who you want

Rp-go here to be a tightwad

lol a little more advanced than that :P but you get my point. I wanna have my kind of fun and someone else can have thiers. much like a smoking and non smoking section.

Smoking is one of the stupidest things a person can do.

Anyways, if they want to be like that, they can always get mIRC or something and talk on there...you can\'t just let people do what they want...some people can\'t help but push, look where it got the boards...and no, I don\'t care about your opinion on them.

i dont care if you like my oppinion kiern, that is kinda going with my point. you can respect your oppinion and i can respect mine by having seperate chat channels. that way you can use tell for important things, but for everyday stuff we can all have our kinds of fun. if you screw around on the rp channel, get warned and maybe banned. Be a tightwad on the general channel, get called a tightwad and go to the other channel. Smoking maybe dumb to you, but to the next guy, he may love it. Who cares, lets respect each other and make a number of chat channels in game.

That doesn\'t mean it isn\'t a dumb thing to do. Smoking causes cancer- that\'s not an opinion, that\'s a cold hard fact.

On Topic: As you probably already know, there will be seperate channels for IC and OOC chat, in addition to say, shout, guild, tell, etc. Still, it\'s not nice to see people talking in a particularly brash or vulgar manner, even if they arn\'t being as offensive as they could be. There\'s no need to use foul language to enjoy a game and enjoy time with your friends. Anyone who disagrees with that has something socially wrong with them. :P (or they have a very good reason that I havn\'t thought of... feel free to suprise me).

Yeah, thanks Mogura, people can still love stupid things, it doesn\'t make them any less wrong.

Back to the topic.

Don\'t get me wrong, I don\'t mind people using language that might not be acceptable to others, I\'m very good at shrugging that kind of useless junk off.

But if you don\'t, there will always be someone whining about so and so using bad language so it made them cry and they can\'t sleep at night...I really don\'t think being able to say something when you can use other words is really worth that annoyance...besides that, it lessens the game overall.

As for the OOC chat, burn it! X(

EDIT:  Get off the damn smoking thing.

Oh but saying smoking is dumb is such an opinion. plus cancer is not 100% proven to come with smoking. in fact 40% of lung cancer patients have never touched a cigrette in thier life. Saying something is dumb when it comes down to it is an opinion because it may be someones closely held belief that is not dumb.

Now on to the real topic here. I have said some of us relax and have fun by cussing mogura. so that is our opinion. just saying we are butholes and banning us or flaming us doesnt make anything more or less acceptable.

im still with whemmy on this (despite him arguming with me when i was agreeing with him...lol)

Dont force your oppinions onto other people.. dont assume because you BELIEVE you are right that u r in FACT right... and because you think what you do is the right thing to do dont judge people for doing their thing

i understand the argument that some ppl dont want to have to deal with certain behavioural traits... but i REALLY dont think u r ever gonna stop it... there will always be an excuse, a loophole, an ambiguity to stop rules against such things being enforced properly

in my oppinion the best thing we can do is to react as we would IRL

As for the forgetting who did what scenario... maybe a player tagging system (makes their name appear red or whatever).. kinda like an anti-buddy list... a blacklist if u will

I think you and whemmy need to play f2p r*n*sc*pe (as it is now) for about two months, and then come back here.

The game is a joke.  Its members are obnoxious, rude, arrogant little twits who curse every sentence.  The chat part is totally ruined because of excessive filtered words.  Its impossible to have a decent and logical conversation with anyone in that game.  There is excessive scamming...etc. etc.

The list goes on.

You dont prevent things like this from happening by letting everyone do as he/she pleases.

Excessive freedom creates anarchy in the world of online gaming.  Im sorry you can either accept this or you can live in denile.

The only reason PlaneShift has stayed as pure as it has is because all the n00bs are scared away because of the lack of fighting/other fancy features.  But soon this will change and it will attract all kinds of n00bs.  We have to prepare for this.  Theres no way around it.

Its not a matter of personal opinion of whats right and wrong.  Its about creating a safe and enjoyable role playing environment and filtering out those who choose to threaten it.

[revelation]OR after rude n00bs begin to accumulate and fill up the server, we could just start another server that only a few elite players would know about and then we could build the ultimate communist society in which all are equal and the n00bs would be stranded on old server cursing and doing god knows what....[/revelation]

what are you talking about. r00nscape isnt a HORRIBLE game. i played it for several months. you cant really expect that much from a game that is free I mean cmon. Plus the cussing isnt that bad at all! I mean it isnt at all. Its actually almost perfect. Most people dont actually talk that much in game in the first place. 90% of the people i found were nice and friendly and gave me things, 5% were loners and told me to go away as they were leveling up and the other 5% were complete assholes. i would say thats a pretty good ratio. Slamming r00nscape isnt going to make anything better. The point is I Have played alot of mmorpgs, and every single one that gets slammed as a horrible game because its the most popular, usually is a fun quality game.

Apparently not, because if it were, then you\'d be screwing around on r*n*sc*pe right now instead of hanging around a \"real\" rping game that isnt even close to completion.

People don\'t chat because theres rarely anyone worth chatting with.

In fact, probably the only chatting you\'ll see is the average \"buying/selling/trading/begging/scamming\" spam.

Like this is a good thing?.  It just feeds the fire of the ever-present plague of beggars.

I\'m not slamming it because its popular... I am slamming it because it sucks.  Its so boring and repetitive.  Its graphics are horrible... its constantly laggy and sluggish.  90% of the game consists of slowly walking back and forth between several destinations (that vary according to what basic skill you excel in) only to begin a tedious pattern of clicking and selecting, and repeating.  All whilst an onslaught of immature n00b spam goes on in the background.

But hey, if thats what you like, then why dont you go play it instead of hanging around here and trying to ruin a fantastic RP game that has alot of potential?

It\'s simple, if a person is being overly abusive you ignore them.  If it starts bothering everyone you report them.

Only n00bs don't quote themselves...

My first online game was R00nscape but I quit that because of 2 reasons money was repetitive to acquire and 3 because of the chat system not only did it censor numbers like 1312412 or AOL (I know its hell but anyway) and all messaging systems. Its swearing system was crud and if PS system gets like that then I will quit.
