Body Dragging
« on: February 29, 2004, 02:18:38 pm »
Don\'t know if anyone ever suggested this, but what if we could drag body\'s???

Example: Assasin guy hides in the shadows, a guard is standing by the entrance of the chamber where the loot/target/... is, he takes his throwing knive and slings one right in the trhoat. now, if he could pick up the body and hide it, no-one would notice, stick the stiff in a barrel, and it never happened ;-)

how bout that ? :)

here\'s a thread covering rag doll physics(body dragging) from a while back, has some nice ideas: http://www.planeshift3d.com/wbboard/thread.php?threadid=7287&boardid=13

if u mean player bodies... this would depend on how the death system finally comes out...whether bodies r dropped etc

if u mean npcs... i like it... would be cool if u think someone around might steal yer oober loot drop... drag the body somewhere private + loot at yer leisure

would be nice to see a \'hero\' who has just killed a nasty monster 10 times his size drag the corpse thru town to show off :P .... would also be nice to have taxidermy so he could turn it into a rug...

Lol where would you drag them? I could understand if you are dragging your wounded out of a battle but just dragging the enemy makes little or no sense how do they respawn then if you just took there body?

respawns are normally handled by an invis object that creates NPCs at its location.. so dragging a corpse wouldnt effect that

dragging an npc corpse could (as stated above) be used to loot it in a safer spot or to brag

If you kill an enemy you could hide his body so no-one would notice he\'d been murdered ...

very cool idea
kill a monster 10 times your size and annoy the temple by leaving it by their doorstep :D

heh that would be a good prank
kill the most smelly and ugly monster and drop it at your friends doorstep

What is this, Planeshift: Tactical Espionage Action?  It\'s not like AI is gonna do anything more than

hostileMOB::onSpotPlayer(%this, %player)
{
%this.attack(%player);
}

Or whatever.

Being able to use a carcass of a defeated creature to make stuff would be cool, but having to actually drag it around to get it skinned or whatever would just be a pain in the arse.
Ninjas have feelings too.  Mostly they feel like dancing.

Come on,

use your imagenation, why wouldn\'t we need to drag bodies, even player bodies ?

NPC\'s could be programmed to alarm when they see a dead guard ...

therefor, you\'d best hide the bodie in an alley, or a barrel ...

maybe only assasins should be able to do that ...

but i hope you understand that this action could be used in PS ???

well,

i was thinking of hitman aswel, it\"s one hell of a game!
and just because hitman could drag bodies, doesn\'t mean PS can\'t, right ?
otherwise we would have an empty game, cause everything prolly is somewhere already ...

Al i\'m sayin\' is, it would be cool/fun/handy sometimes ...

PvP aint nescessarily gonna drop bodies and if it does the victim will deffinately know who did it if the challenge system is used... so there is no point in player bodies being dragged (if they are lootable it would be part of the challenge script and therefore there would be no threat to the looter)

NPC corpses could be dragged but it could cause problems with people dragging corpses into places that annoy other players (like piling em up in doorways etc)

guards could be programmed to sound an alarm if they find a corpse in town but i dont really see too much benefit from the amount of ai code needed to make this work nicely

taxidermy would work and be a nice addition (IMO)

maybe player corpse dragging could be used in guild wars where that kind of stealth tactics would be usefull

OK,

never mind the body draggin\' stuff

it was a lame idea apparently, i just remembered how cool it was to stuff bodies in empty closeable spaces.

call me a freak, but who knows, there\'s a stiff in your closet RIGHT NOW ??
