Niber, if you want to save every byte in memory, then why dont you take off thouse \"fancy\" XP effects at control panel->system->advanced->performance?
Xordans desktop is the best so far :)

Here is a \"cool\" link.

Another linux user, but this time it\'s fluxbox under gentoo. The background is regenerated every 5 minutes, the monitors on the right are gkrellm clients:

Best regards for all the poor 56k modems that will have to go trough this thread (honestly: sorry).

Leander256:

neat and simple ...just like fluxbox\'s supposed to be :] ...nice touch with that generating background, pity it can\'t be seen the screenshot ...maybe you could post another one in another hour just to point out the difference (yea, i know what it does) ;)
it\'s not my style (too dark), but it\'s a nice one :]

for those who never used fluxbox (or any other *box):
on leander\'s screenie, the box at the bottom left side which says \"tests\" isn\'t the fluxbox equivalent of the startbutton - that is accomplished with just right-clicking on the background

p.s. aaaah, another fellow genoo-ist in PS

LoL, Great post. I will post mine as soon as I get home (at school right now)... You guys will laugh, but I am still on Win 98... but am upgrading to XP professional soon. I have a Lindows CD around here somewhere...

About teh world desktop... isn\'t it amazing that, from that high up, all the major cities and areas are lit up? I would love to go into space and see that for myself.

dameon: i will not laugh at you for using win98 ...i think 98 SE is still better then XP, so i\'d stick to that if i were you ...but then again i\'m not a win* pro

about Lindows: unless you buy yourself (or apply for the free trial account, which needs your credit card number) the Click\'N\'Run, it isn\'t much worth it ...with Click\'N\'Run running, I\'m sure it\'s one of the easiest distros I\'ve seen ...but without it it\'s pretty scarce :(
... but let\'s not get too off topic :3

Beware that I am distorted in my wording if you do not understand me at all.

eh i only liked the desk top because it was VERY high quality.  as far as opera, almost no adware, fewer popups and better interface not to mention it looks a heck of alot better. those are just a FEW things that make opera really cool.
