Competition
« on: April 13, 2004, 10:23:51 am »
The oncoming fight between Davis and TheRedMonk brought me to an idea. Lets have a public competition between players. Something like the one you find in DragonballZ (yes i watch that :p).

The players in this competition fight each other to the death for the price/money and the honor of being the victor. The participants are divided into groups of two. The two players in a group have to duel. The remaining ones are then again placed in groups until only the victor is alive.

The merchant guilds could organize this and make money by selling tickets (to participants and the crowd), food, drinks and allowing bets to be made.

I want to know what you think of this, would you or anyone watch it? Would there be participants? Have any usefull suggestions and comments, the competition could be larger, like having one group fight another or a monster.

In CB it is possible to challenge someone (at least thats what i heard).

About the tickets, maybe in the future they\'ll be made. And in advance people can sign up for the competition. Anyone not signed in may not participate.

We\'ll have arenas for that.

Poor, poor Ionas.  Somebody needs to watch more mecha.... :P

If someone wants to sponsor a fight in MB, I\'m willing to be one of the contestants. :))
But yes, there will be arenas, and most likely gladiators, in CB.

Players of course.  Wanna PK a random person?  Go to teh Arena.

OT: Mecha, Mechs, Mobile Armor, Mobile Suits, Huge Killing machines, aka Giant Robots.   You don\'t know what a \"mech\" is?  ?(

Oh those things :), why didnt you say that sooner :D.

OT: So a players wanting to fight can go to the arena in search of others. Nice... But it doesn\'t exclude my idea. In a competition there is an organized fight after which the victor can claim to be the best of all fighters. I hope the best players will join such a competition.

If you\'re talking about a CB competition take it to Wishlist.

If you mean an MB one, talk to people in-game about it.

Actually it is possible in MB, it just has to be roleplayed.
The prefered system for a giant rp\'ed contest would be to choose the winners beforehand.

Yes but that isn\'t much fun. The contest is about who is the greatest fighter of PS. So you can gloat to everyone of your victory.

BTW any ideas are welcome. I personally have two new ones. Since its unlikely anyone would only want to watch the game and its problematic to have the crowd pay for tickets i think watching the game should be free.

Second if the contest idea works (as in enough players join the fight) there could be seperate competitions. Like a general one, one only for magicians, one only for fighters etc.
