Mystic Oracle ?
« on: May 24, 2004, 06:05:32 am »
Ok, one for the mages ect., what are the chances of creating an \"oricle\" of sorts. Be it a magic mist in a temple all it\'s own, an old hag in a secluded hut reading the \"bones\", it could be used by priests, warriors, ect. to forsee the immidiate future events and/or see the next step in a quest. It has other possibilities such as delivering background info on quest personalities and quest objectives.

an oricle would be better as an npc who could provide info on recent updates and what is to come in the future
although that would require constant updates

Oracles telling the future? Maybe not... However generic, sort-of true if you want to belive it, statements work best:
\"You shall be defeated in a horribly bloody battle... But not before causing a great change within the world.\"

or to a player of great consiquence (IE: A king/queen)

\"You shall not be defeated until the forest reaches the castle walls.\"

That second one if from Macbeth, btw. A character [and his army each] chopped down [a] tree, and carried them to Macbeth\'s castle. Who said they had to grow their way to the castle? ;)

[An alternative to this is to have the oracle give a random effect w/ said text message to the player \"You will fall in battle, but shall not die and will rise again!\" could place a effect on the player to cause him to self-resurrect; making the Oracle\'s pridiction true. (of course, the effect from the oracle wouldn\'t be immediately obvious and could only be given out once in a great while)]

Precious and beutiful, it is happy. The only time when it is not is when it is in a shape of a tear.

Ooh that\'s nice, people would just be talking to the oracle all day until this message pops up so they can get a free resurrection. ;)
