If I were you, I\'d show your mom the forums and show her how many people have downlaoded the game and do not have virii. Also, explain to her that the download times have nothing to do with the content of the files, in fact, it\'s been my experience that most virii I\'ve had have come in smaller files meaning they would typically download slower. Also, download times are also affected by server speeds. If you download something from someone with dial-up then it could be 8 MB and take an hour or more. I would do some research so you know what you\'re talking about and explain things to her with evidence, that is, if she\'ll listen :-P... She may jsut be set in her ways. But also, like Skizzik said, get some good Anti-Virus software (Norton or McAfee - but DO NOT download it on Kazaa or anything similar... that is not a good idea) and keep it updated, then neither of you will have to worry about it.
